Eco-Friendly Events, Vegan Food, and Soulful Entertainment

Central Florida Earth Day 2010 is certain to entertain, educate and uplift. This environmental awareness event takes place on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Lake Eola Park in Orlando. Numerous eco-friendly activities are scheduled throughout the day, along with kid-friendly workshops and mind, body, spirit seminars.

Attendees of Central Florida Earth Day 2010 should plan on arriving early in order to take in all the sights, sounds, and seminars. Feast your eyes on exquisite art work produced by local artists. Expand your mind through eco-friendly seminars. Stretch your body with yoga classes. Tap your toes as local musicians perform. This earth day festival offers something for everyone, including pets!

A host of distinguished speakers will offer educational environmental awareness seminars. Featured speakers for Earth Day 2010 include: Fred Milch of East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, Jon Ippel of Green Works Orlando, and Joseph Malki of Seven-Star; a world-class environmentally responsible event planner. Guests can learn about sustainable government practices and eco-friendly policy initiatives within local and municipal agencies.

Central Florida Earth Day 2010 entertainment will be presented at various venues throughout the day. Valerie Merrifield and Andy Costantini will be performing on the acoustic stage, while Lindy Romez and Open Windows rock out on the band stage. Watersign will perform their soulful melodies on the hybrid stage starting at 11 a.m.

Balance your body by attending a yoga class. Participants can sing and chant with Shine On Yoga and relieve thigh tension or learn Hatha Yoga with You Health Center. Five yoga classes are offered at Earth Day 2010 celebration, with the first beginning at 10 a.m. and the last at 2 p.m.

Parents and kids will appreciate the scheduled activities presented at Earth Kids Zone. Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. kids can participate in crafts, yoga, and a veggie scavenger hunt. Two Animal Haven educational classes will be presented which allow kids to meet rescued animals and learn how they can help animals.

The Earth Kids Zone is a hotbed of activity. In addition to fun and educational classes, kids can visit the coloring station to express artistic talent, and indulge in vegan sweets and healthy treats from the goodies table. Kids Zone is suitable for children of all ages and their parents.

Plenty of vegetarian and vegan food vendors will be presenting their culinary creations to tantalize your taste buds and keep your tummy happy. Vegan food will be served throughout the day; most of which is local and organic.

Food vendors participating in this year's Earth Day celebration include: Ethos Vegan Kitchen, Dandelion Communitea Café, Food for Smile, Joe's Oat Patties, Khasivat, Loving Hut, Laurie's Italian Ice, Raphsodic Cooperative Company, Sah Nevaeh, Three2Oh, and Z-Café.

Food selections include: sandwich wraps, vegan meatball subs, vegan hot dogs, barbeque sandwiches, veggie burgers, chili, macaroni and vegan cheese, basmati rice, vegan rice bowls, taco couscous salad, veggie garden salads, pastries, chocolate chip cookies, vegan ice cream, sorbet, fresh Florida orange juice, lemonade, ice tea and coffee.

Last, but not least, pay a visit to Animal Haven where animal lovers and rights activists unite. Guests will be provided with a variety of information including how to feed cats and dogs a vegetarian diet.

Nearly 20 animal loving vendors will be participating in the Central Florida Earth Day 2010 festivities. Animal rescue groups, animal services organizations, animal rights activists, and animal welfare alliances will be available to answer questions and provide educational materials throughout the day-long event.

Admission to Central Florida Earth Day 2010 is free and the event is open to the public. The festival will take place rain or shine, so dress accordingly. Earth day festivities begin at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2010. Event takes place at Lake Eola Park, 195 N. Rosalind Avenue, Orlando, Florida.
