The museum's main premise is that children learn through play. The interactive exhibits attract and hold children's attention--and their parents' too. The exhibits may begin to answer for the children: What do I want to be when I grow up? This is done through role-playing through numerous and varied representations of careers.
Outside, the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum has a 12,000 foot castle maze and a train.
The Latest and Greatest
For those who have visited the museum in the past and might not see a reason to return, the museum now proudly boasts its Centennial Hospital. Over 300 health care careers are represented here, but there's nothing ho-hum about it. Visitors can listen to what a stomach sounds like, perform surgery, explore inside a real ambulance and more.
Castle Maze is one of the newer inter-activities. Four interlocking mazes will test sense of direction, memory and probably patience, too.
A kinetic energy exhibit titled "Minds on Fun" might be just a little hair-raising.
"Science Works," another new exhibit, allows more hands-on fun and learning for all. Here there are rotating exhibits that include Weather Works, Imagination Station, Extreme Machines and more.
Hours of Business/Admission Prices
The Children's Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm and Sundays 1pm-5pm. It is closed all major holidays and the first two weeks after Labor Day each year.
For admission, kids under 3 are free; those ages 3-60 will pay $8.00 each; those over age 60 can get in for $7.00 each. (These prices do not include tax)
Children must be accompanied by an adult to visit the museum.
Groups Welcome
School groups, church groups, birthday parties-you name it--are welcome at the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum. There are two birthday party packages and at least one week's notice to make a reservation is required. Field trips and any corporate or club use of the museum is welcome, again with advanced notice.
