When I first arrived in Charlotte in 2001 I was curious at to what types of community colleges were in the area. I did attend a community college in Birmingham, Alabama, but it was nowhere near as large a campus as this one. When I finally did decide to try and get back in school it was in fall of 2005. I had heard so much about Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) from friends. When I arrived on campus for registration I was pleasantly surprised. The campus was very clean and well taken care of. It was also very large. There were so many students walking around that it really reminds you of a university instead of a community college.

CPCC's staff is very friendly. This is not the norm at all community colleges. Particularly at the one that I attended in Alabama. I could tell that some of the staff were students. They were very professional. Registration went through quickly and hassle free. I registered for on line classes in order to attain an associates degree in Medical Office Administration. Now, mind you I had never taken on line courses before. CPCC offers orientation for on line classes but I didn't find them necessary because the on-line classes are very user friendly. I went to the site and I loved it. You can catch up on your work at your convenience as long as you get your assignments in by the due date of your professor. You also get your own email address with the school or you can keep your personal email address. It is very easy to look at your grades, bulletin board, assignments, etc.

Another great thing about CPCC is the testing center. They have a testing center there for students to take tests. It is located in the Central High building. I like the testing center because it has very late hours. They are open until 8:00 p.m. on most days. This is great if you work or have other priorities. The testing center staff provides pencils and a pencil sharpener. I really loved this part of my college experience.

CPCC has other perks on campus like a Bojangles restaurant on campus, a huge bookstore, and many stores and restaurants within walking distance. I am not attending right now. I have decided to take a break. But when I do decide to go back I will definitely choose Central Piedmont Community College for sure! Check out their website at www.cpcc.edu.
