Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50: Best Daily Sun Protection for Sensitive Skin

Emily Harmon
At a recent trip to the dermatologist, my doctor asked me what SPF moisturizer I was using on my face each day. Feeling quite good about myself, I remarked that I used SPF 18 every single day in my foundation. Shaking her head in a disapproving way, she handed me a sample bottle of Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50. "SPF 50 for you kiddo!" she remarked. Now I am admittedly quite short and my dermatologist is indeed a bit older than me, but I never thought about this 30 year old "kiddo" needing SPF 50 moisturizer. But, since I had the sample bottle in hand, I started using Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 on a daily basis.

The reason I had visited the dermatologist in the first place is because I suffer from mild adult acne. So when I first squirted some Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 out of the bottle onto my fingertips I was immediately alarmed by how greasy it felt. As I applied Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 to my face all I could imagine were the dozens of pimples forming beneath all of this moisture. Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 does indeed have quite a greasy feel to it. It takes quite some time to absorb into the skin. If you plan on wearing make-up after applying Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 make sure you allow a good 15-20 minutes of time in between applying your moisturizer and attempting foundation.

After a couple weeks of faithful use, I was quite surprised by my results with Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50. I did not break out with any new pimples. Granted I am also trying a new topical acne medication, but in the past any highly moisturizing facial cream has caused major break outs. Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 did not cause my skin to break out at all.

Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 is from the leader in sensitive skin care. The fragrance free, non-comedogenic formula of Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 makes it a favorite among skin care professionals. It is amazing to me as a user than Cetaphil can create a facial moisturizer with such a strong SPF that does not have a strong scent or cause my sensitive skin to sting upon application.

In addition to the greasy feel and slow absorption, Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 is also very expensive. One 1.7 ounce bottle of Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 will set you back about $14. While this is quite expensive for me, a relative newbie when it comes to facial moisturizers, more seasoned users may not find that price to be absurd at all. It is certainly less expensive than department store brands, and since it is the number one choice of my dermatologist, it makes sense that it has to be one of the best products available.

Overall I give Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 four of five stars. Despite the greasiness and high price, Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer does do a superior job of moisturizing sensitive skin and protecting the face from harmful rays. The fact that such a strong moisturizer has not caused any new pimples on my acne-prone skin is amazing. Particularly if you have combination skin, Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 may be just the product for you.
