It seems then that some humility would be in order, no?
But in a video interview with www.telelgraph.co.uk, Sonnen consulted the insults, saying that the UFC "has a locker room full of cowards."
He used the "locker room full of cowards" remark in regards to fighters supposedly being scared to challenge Anderson Silva and/or himself.
He went on to say that he still believes himself to be the best fighter in the UFC "excluding Couture," referring to the former heavyweight champion from Sonnen's home state of Oregon.
A little bias in that statement? Perhaps, as Couture wouldn't even make a list of the top ten heavyweights in MMA right now according to most people. Sonnen said that Couture would beat him but implied that he would be the only one he would lose to in a fight.
These comments continue the trend of controversial statements by Sonnen and suggest he's not done yet.
Sonne also said his only goal is to win the title and that UFC fighters who don't have that same goal should quit. He didn't say whether or not he would push for an immediate rematch.
The loss dropped Sonnen's career UFC record to just 4-4.
The video interview with Sonnen can be seen now on the Internet at the Telegraph site.
