Chakras: The Psychic Energy Centers

What are Chakras?

By origin, a chakra is a sanskrit word that means "wheel of light." These chakras are known to be the psychic centers of the human body and they are located along the axis of the spine. Basically, these chakras function to vitalize the physical body and bring about the development of a person's self-consciousness. They are also known as the portals that allow auric energy to circulate all throughout the body.

The 7 Major Chakras and Their Significance;

There are seven major psychic chakras and they look like small energy balls that come in different colors. Each of the seven chakras within an individual has a specific function or relevance to his physical, mental and emotional interactions.

MULADHARA

The first chakra is the Muladhara (also referred to as the root chakra) which is red in color and it is located at the base of the spine. This chakra links us to the physical world. Spiritually, the root chakra is connected to the desire to protect one's individual integrity. It is a psychic energy center that provides a solid foundation in order to ascend to higher awareness.

SWADHISTHAMA

The sacral chakra is orange in color, and is located somewhere near the lower abdomen. This second chakra is known as the point of emotional connection.

MANIPURA

The solar plexus chakra or Manipura is the third psychic energy source of the human body. This yellowish ball of energy is the main source for the mental understanding of emotional life, and it is said to be responsible for giving a person the sense of identity.

ANAHATA

The fourth or heart chakra, is the psychic love center of an individual. Anahata is all about emotional empowerment. It is either pinkish or greenish in color and it is located at the center of the chest.

VISHUDDHA

Vishuddha is the fifth chakra. Also known as the throat chakra, Vishuddha is bluish in color and it represents a person's "will" center. The throat chakra is also associated with one's creativity and self-expression.

AJNA

The sixth major chakra is Ajna (a.k.a. the third eye chakra or the psychic mind center). Located at the center of the forehead, this indigo colored center is associated with one's intelligence and psychic power.

SAHASRARA

Completing the list of the seven major chakras is the crown chakra. Appearing either white or violet in color, it is located on top of the head; it is known as the body's primary coordination center and the connection to one's spirituality.

The Relationship of Chakras and Your Psychic Side

So what's the connection between the seven primary chakras to your psychic side? Here's how it works; all seven of these primary chakras must be harmoniously aligned and balanced in order to vitalize a person's physical body and bring the individual to a higher level of self-consciousness. As what has been established, one's psychic side can be unlocked when an individual can perfect the ideal state of higher consciousness. Basically, it follows that when all of your primary chakras are well coordinated, you have an easier way to connect with your innate psychic side!
