Challanger Cricket Match

Since the working life has begun, weekends have acquired a completely different meaning in life. However this weekend was a bit different. It was a sunny Sunday when my friends called me for a cricket game in our local cricket ground. It had been long since we played last time but the enthusiasm reached its peak as soon as we heard the name of Cricket. I believe it is rightly said that cricket is not just a game in India but a religion. We were all pumped up but not for long as there was some other team already playing in the ground where we were supposed to play.

Since the spirits were high, we decided to wait for their game to get over and then start ours. With someone coming up with the option we decided to play a match against the team which was already playing in the ground.

The other team batted first scoring 128 runs in their stipulated 10 over. Target was stiff but win was our ultimate goal. Lack of practice was already seen in the way we bowled but it was time to prove our mettle now. Our innings started horrendously as we lost 4 batsmen for just 40 runs. As soon as I went on the pitch to bat there were some foul words uttered by fielding team. The heated arguments were making the sun's heat appear cooler. Now it was not a question of just victory but of pride and honor. I was on strike and we required 4 runs of the last ball. I hit the ball with in the air and it crossed the boundary. We won a great match and shook hands with the opponents. Everything ended on good note in spite of heated arguments keeping the spirit of game alive.
