Free, Open Source Chandler Software Offers Complete Note, Event and To-Do Management

Chandler Project is an open source software application provider that provides a complete to-do, note-to-self and event organization system that you can download and use for free. Located at www.chandlerproject.org, the Chandler Project is part of the Open Source Applications Foundation, a nonprofit organization that develops all of the Chandler projects.

I came across this great, free organization system because I constantly leave notes to myself. I have Word documents filled with ideas, and yellow Post-It Notes are strewn across my desk. This not only creates a lot of clutter but it can be hard to keep track of. The Chandler Desktop software takes care of this service for you by providing a complete organization tool. The best part is that this software is completely open source, meaning it's free to download and use.

This is much more than a note organization system however. You can synchronize the software with your email accounts and calendars so you have a full list of contacts and events. You can create your own events and alert your contacts. You can create different categories of notes so you can easily access what you're trying to find.

Sort your notes by importance and status, with "Now", "Later" and "Finished" triage categories. You can also star items to give extra emphasis on them. There is an alarm/reminder function that alerts you at a time of your choosing.

Chandler was created to fit a growing need to synchronize information, events and people. It allows you to easily organize, access and store your notes and to-dos, and it's a comprehensive tool that can do the job of many other separate applications. It even comes preloaded with a list of important holidays and possible categories to store your information, to help get you started instantly.

The Chandler Desktop software also enables you to backup and share your information online with Chandler Hub. The Chandler Hub lets you export all of your information to a private online account. This makes it easy to access from a secondary computer, such as at your office. It also ensures that you never lose any of your information or notes.

Additionally, Chandler Hub lets you create a system to share the information with others. Therefore your office can also access upcoming events or projects they need to work on, or everyone in your home will know who has to go to the store or what chores they have around the house.

Chandler Server is also available, which allows you to host a free, open source server environment. Chandler Server rounds out the Chandler environment, including the Chandler Desktop application and the Chandler Hub online presence.

Chandler is very intuitive and easy to learn. Create new notes to yourself with the click of a button. Don't worry about saving as everything is automatically saved and you can backup your files automatically each time you exit the software. It's a very robust open source software application that provides a ton of features and timesaving benefits, especially for a note fiend such as myself.
