Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Color: Product Review

On a recent shopping trip to the mall with my daughter, we decided to stop at the cosmetics counter at one of the major department stores. My daughter was looking for a perfume, and I was looking for some new lipstick. We happened upon the Chanel counter, however, I wasn't in the market to spend more than $10 for a tube of lipstick. My daughter pointed out the Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Color to me. I did like the variety of colors that were available, but after finding out that this product cost $30, I decided against it. After thinking about it, I really did want to try a high-quality designer lipstick such as Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Color, because I knew that this lipstick would be just as luxurious and high performing as I perceived it to be.

I caved in and purchased the Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Color tube of lipstick for $30. I have never seen a lipstick that had its name etched into the actual product. The Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick has the word Chanel right in the lipstick. This is great marketing and it entices the buyer, myself included, to purchase a product based in part on aesthetics. I even loved what the tube looked like. It comes in a sleek black tube that is characteristic of the Chanel name. The color of the Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Color that I chose to purchase was called Voluptuous. Everything about this product was "so far, so good." The true test however, would be when I got home and used it. By the way, I was happy to get some free samples for my $30, which I hope to review in a later piece.

I was excited to try my new Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Color and I almost put it when we got back to the car, but since I had already had lipstick on from before, I thought I'd wait until I got home so I could remove my existing lipstick. I wanted to start with a fresh slate. I removed the lipstick that I had on, and then applied the Chanel lipstick. Before I put it on, I again admired the etched Chanel logo on the lipstick, and it sort of seemed like a shame that it would eventually wear off! This lipstick glided on effortlessly and immediately could tell that this was a very high quality lipstick. The color was so rich and vibrant, that it almost surprised me. I liked the color that I chose because it went well with my complexion, however, I did have thirty three colors to choose from at the Chanel counter.

A big problem for me with lipsticks is that they seem to feather on me. This means that the lipstick tends to migrate into the tiny fissures of my mouth and lips. I would rather go without lipstick than have it feature because it looks so hideous! I can usually stave this phenomenon off with the use of a good lip pencil, although sometimes that doesn't even help. I did apply my lip pencil before I applied the Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Color and was hoping that it wouldn't feather. As time went on, I was very happy to find that my Chanel Rouge Allure did not move from my lips. This lipstick remained as vibrant and true to color as it did when I put it on hours before. Even though this lipstick was very creamy, it wasn't sticky or gooey and best of all, it didn't feather. The lipstick didn't come off easily either, when I ate or drank. I would not like to have paid $30.00 and have this lipstick feather. In my opinion, Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Color is an incredible lipstick that has amazing staying power and I would definitely buy it again.

The only downside of the Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick is the cost of $30.00. I don't mind paying more for a high performing product though, but I don't think that I will be able to try all thirty three colors though! Despite the price, I will continue to use this product, and would purchase it again, albeit in a different color.
