The way it looked was not shiny, but not matte. I was wearing the foundation only, I was not wearing powder. The makeup made my skin look moisturized, not shiny. The foundation evens out skin tone, like my red cheeks and red nose. My natural blush could be seen under the foundation. The foundation lays on top of my pores, instead of laying at the bottom of my pores to make them look larger. The foundation does the same for crow's feet at the outer corners of my eyes. The color was a perfect match for me, beige cendre soft bisque. I have a rosy skin tone, which can be even rosier on a cold, windy day. With the foundation on, my skin looked normal, with my cheeks slightly pinker at my cheek bones only. It was very natural looking. I felt like my skin color was corrected, not my skin with a lot of heavy foundation on it.
The trick is with this foundation is that a little bit goes a long way. The texture of this foundation is very smooth and fine. There are no clumps, and it does not feel grainy at all. A small amount on the finger tip can spread over quite a bit of skin. The foundation should be spread on the skin until the finger is dry. It must be applied evenly. I like to use my finger first to apply it when the foundation is wet. The once it dries, which takes about 5-10 minutes, I go over all of the skin with a compact powder puff. This blends the foundation into the skin, and takes away the shine. If this is not done, I guess the foundation might be a little shiny. A cosmetic sponge might work well for this too, I prefer the powder puff method, without powder, of course. I put a very small amount on my eyelids, too, just to even out the color so it's all over my face. So, that's it, then some eye pencil on my eyebrows, creme blush on my cheekbones, and lip gloss for daytime makeup.
I hope this helps if you are sick of foundation that looks too unnatural and fake.
