Change clothes -- Jay Z
Don't dress for where you are, you need to dress for where you are going. If you are working at McDonalds and God blesses you to move up and get a job at Red Lobster, Red Lobster being a step up. You wouldn't report to Red Lobster on your first day wearing your McDonalds uniform.
The same is true in life, if God blesses you to move up, you need to change clothes for where you are going. You need to change clothes for where you wanna go. You need to shed the old to make room and receive the new.
Look at Jay Z, when he decided he was going to make the transition from rapper to business man, he put away the baggy jeans, and started dressing like a business man. Every time you see the brother handling business he is dipped, dapper and dressed to kill. You may still see the jeans in the videos and on stage but even then he has stepped his game up.
Now this isn't only about changing what you are wearing, you need to change your attitude. It is also necessary to change and make an adjustment in your thinking and an adjustment in your heart. Before you can get something new, you have to wash away or get rid of the old. You have to stop thinking like a victim and begin to think like a victor.
God gave us a powerful tool called imagination; you need to visualize where you're going.
Rick Warren says on his website:
My imagination influences my aspirations. In other words, your dreams determine your destiny.
To accomplish anything you must first have a mission, a goal, a hope, a vision.
"Without a vision the people perish." Proverbs 29:18.
Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs.4:23
You need to take two steps ahead mentally. Physically you may be still standing in the same place, but mentally you need to see yourself two steps ahead. You need to let you imagination run and visualize where you are going. If mentally you can only see yourself where you are that where you will continue too stay.
So we need to change clothes, change your attitude, adjust your thinking and your heart. Visualize yourself two steps ahead and then leave the rest to God. If you can reach up, God will always reach down for you and pull you up.
And no matter if it doesn't happen in the timeframe you think it should or want it to, continue to pray and never let anyone make your faith falter or believe it can't or won't happen.
Believe in God, He is the same now as He was in the years of the Bible.
He will never forsake you. Praise God!
Don't let the world around you squeeze you into its mold,
but let God remake you so that your whole attitude of mind is changed -Romans 12:2
