Change and Experience, Obama / Biden Ticket

The "Obiden" Ticket

David Patrick
It's what we've all been waiting for, the big unveiling of the vice presidential running mate for Barack Obama. At 3am many receive the all important news that Senator Joe Biden would be the one balancing out the ticket for the Democrats. But no sooner than the announcement was made the McCain camp was putting out ads about how from Biden's own mouth, Barack was not ready to be president.. so was this a good choice?

I feel like it is. One of the major problems that many people had with Barack was his lack of experience. So Barack went out and got a man with over 30 years experience. They had a problem with Barack's lack of experience with foreign relations... so that problem was shored up with Biden's years as chairman of the foreign relations committee. Barack was called an elitist... Biden is the poorest member of Congress with a negative net worth. Barack could not get the Catholic vote from Hilary supporters, Biden is a Catholic.

It's like the line from the Jerry McGuire movie on the elevator... "You complete me.." Biden makes up for where the American people (at least the polls) say he lacks. So it's the "CHANGE and EXPERIENCE " ticket, as it's already being labeled. That's cool, but of course people are not satisfied unless they have something to complain about. I was watching CNN this afternoon and they were taken time out to view the "iReport" where people get on their webcams and tell their opinions. The new complaint is that Obama choose a man with so much experience, and how could he possibly get around the whole "politics as usual" working with someone who has been in Washington for such a long time. That's a simple answer... Barack is the one who, if elected, would be in charge.

It often blows my mind how soon it is forgotten that a president has a Cabinet of people who helps him makes decisions. And one thing that we all notice about Barack Obama is that he is open to tossing ideas around and bouncing things off other people before making his final decision. We saw that as he discussed some hard hitting issues at the Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency. While Senator McCain came out with staccato, black and white answers to questions that are many shades of gray in the lives of those making them, Senator Obama took time to express his thought process behind his decisions. He showed that although he does not necessarily agree with people's choices, he'd rather not deny people rights as well as spoke about ways to help people not have to make such difficult choices. This proves that he would in fact utilize the advice of the advisors, but ultimately make his own decision based off of a variety of information. He needs the experienced people in his corner so that when he throws out ideas, they can tell him how they feel "based on experience" it would play out. Open discussion leads to better solutions.

From what I understand about Joe Biden is that he is verbose and not a push over. He is able to speak his mind, which sometimes gets him into trouble. He is generally saying what is on the minds of the regular guy. Perhaps those that are still upset just wanted Hillary on the ticket. I commend Barack for not choosing Hillary simply for the sake of getting states. It would have been a fake move on his part. They really just don't like each other and it is apparent wheneever we see them together.

So I like Biden. It is only been a few hours since he was announced, but I think they should make a good team. Since McCain chooses to always compare Barack to celebrities, it would make sense to annoint the two with a celebrity couple name like "Brangelina". I now annoint the ticket as the "OBIDEN" ticket. Hopefully, the Obiden will lead them all the way to the White House. because frankly, I am not not great a fan of McCain.

Let's see--Obama is said to be the most liberal member of Congress and Biden ranks about #3 in that category. Seems to me that while some may not be satisfied with the status quo (including me) we've had a Democrat majority in Congress while so many of the decisions were made that have been blamed on Bush. As you said, one person can't make these changes alone. Can you find one person who will stand up for Obama and say, "He's done a good job on this or that," or do you know of any real friends he has who would stand by him?
I can't understand people who are willing to risk everything for "a change." He has nothing to back up his so-called good intentions. Change in and of itself is not necessarily a good thing. If you've never read the story about the people in the village who were tired of their problems so took them all to the village square and piled them up, then took somebody else's problems to try for a while, it might be worth looking it up. I have a horrible feeling t

Personally. I don't need this kind of change in my life. And certainly, I do not want more taxes of any kind. The government, especially Congress, has already proven over the last 50 or more years that they do not know how to fix most problems. This is why we STILL have people trying to fix them in this fashion, such as Obama plans to do. It is not up to any class of people to fix the poor problem except the poor themselves, who, by the way, have had many opportunities to improve their station in life, economically. Many have in the last century. In fact, dividing people into classes is downright degrading and immoral to begin with. Obama and the Marxists will never create wealth for anyone but themselves, and that through taxation and outright theft. On the other side, the Republicans also have a lot to answer for. Politicians are out of control in this country, but Obamanism is not the answer. Otherwise, thanks for presenting your views.

I'm not crazy about Obama, since I haven't heard anything solid from the man. Biden criticized Obama heavily and evidently the things he criticized melted away as the vice presidential candidacy became apparent. I think that if a whole group of rich liberal celebrities back a man you should always vote in the opposite direction. These people have no concept of the every day life that people lead since they live in a fantasy world of excess. It is important to help the poor, but only after your family is taken care of. Unfortunately many of the concepts created by the party itself, tax people in the middle class to take care of the poor. These taxes drive the available spending cash down hurt the economy and create a new class of poor from the middle class...but they are the working poor.
