We won't go into why you need your car to look different. Maybe you're trying to elude a stalker. Maybe you don't want your old girlfriend to see you driving by her house. The reason you want to make your car look different is your little secret. There are many ways to give your car a completely unique look and most of them are really easy to accomplish.

We've all done it; we've all looked at a car, then again, thinking we saw someone we knew. Then, it turns out that you were mistaken. It was just someone with a car similar to the one your acquaintance drives. Car manufacturers turn out thousands of identical cars - just like yours. People distinguish one car from another, even if they were made to look alike, by certain features. One owner might hang some beads on the rearview mirror. Another person might have whitewall tires whereas you don't. So, with that in mind, let's make you a new car.

Most people don't want to go to the expensive of painting the car, just to make it look different, but there are many other things you can do. Give the car pinstripes by using electrical tape, for instance. The tape is narrow, comes in a variety of colors, and is really easy to apply. With pinstripes, the car instantly looks like a totally different vehicle.

At home, print out magnetic sheeting, and put one on each front car door, to make it look like you work for a particular company. You can use a made-up company name and phone number, along with an image found online, or no image at all. The printable magnetic sheeting can be found at an office supply or craft store. The magnetic signs can be quickly attached or removed from the car at any time.

Make your own temporary whitewall tires by using white contact paper. Just draw a circle, as large and wide as you need, then cut it out. Peel off the backing and stick it to your tire. For best results, make sure the area on the tire has been wiped clean before adding the paper.

There are many small things you can do to your vehicle to give it a new look. Put an antenna ball on - or take one off, hang things on the rearview mirror or remove them, or even use window clings. Found at craft stores and online retailers, the thin plastic images are made to be stuck to the back window or other glass on the car. Choose from words, sentiments, or even stick people who represent your imaginary family.

Mix and match ideas to create the new look you want for your car. You can give it a sticker family on the window, and lots of beads on the mirror, or you can just stick on a couple of magnetic signs and some whitewalls. You'll be surprised at just how different your car can look, anytime you want.
