Changes in American Idol Have Given Lots of Control to the Judges

American Idol is Now About "If" the Judges Agree with America

American Idol from the beginning has claimed to be a show where undiscovered talent got a chance to have their voice heard by America and the viewers at home get to choose who wins. America chose the top 12 each season up until this season. This time America chose eight; the judges chose five, making a surprise of a top thirteen instead of twelve. So the judges chose nearly half of who is now on the show, not America.

On Wednesday night, there was another change that takes more control from the viewers and gives it to the judges. The show started with them talking about how in past seasons someone left with an uproar from fans. So to change this from happening they have decided the judges have a chance to save someone.

If someone gets the least votes and the judges feel they should not go home they are able to save them. They can only use the save one time, during the whole season, but if they use it no one will go home that week. However, two contestants will go home the following the week.

This is just another way for American Idol to control the vote and try and force America to choose who they want as the winner. If American Idol is making all these decisions then the judges will basically decides who wins. Who knows if the calls by viewers are even actually counted? Seems to me there is a good chance they aren't and the judges will control the vote. All these changes this season has taken a show, that is supposed to be about viewers choosing who they think should be the American Idol and changed it to a show called American Idol - If the judges agree. So what do you think about the changes? Please leave your thoughts in the comments section.

Jorge Nunez and Jasmine Murray were sent home tonight. The judges did not use a save. Something tells me they already know who they will be saving that "save" for.
