Keeping your young boy interested in reading can be difficult. By finding series books you can keep him wanting to read more to find out what happens next. Kids love the familiarity of the same characters and setting. If a child likes a series book he will be more likely to read the sequel because he knows he will most likely like it.

Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park

Junie B. Jones is young girl who stars in a series of twenty five books. The series starts with Junie B. in kindergarten and progresses until first grade. The series follows Junie B. as she learns about common problems kids that age face such as school problems, family dynamics, friendships and more. Though the series is about a girl, it also appeals to young boys. The series is very funny to the first and second grade groups. The books do not have to be read in order to be understood.

Diary of A Wimpy Kid By Jeff Kinney

Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a relatively new series released in 2007. It is a realistic fiction book about a boy named Greg and his life in middle school. The author says he wanted to write very funny stories about childhood and growing up and leave out all the ordinary experiences. This makes for a very funny read for young boys.

Encyclopedia Brown by Donald Sobol

Encyclopedia Brown is a series of mysteries that have been around since 1963. Each book is its own separate mystery and can be read independently of other books. There are enough clues within each book for a young boy to solve the mystery by himself.

The Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne

There are forty four books in the Magic Tree House series. The series stars Jack and Annie who live in Pennsylvania. They go on different adventures and missions with the aide of a magical tree house. The series takes the two children all over the world and through time travel on their adventures.

These books are a good start to get your son reading. From comedy to mystery to adventure, there are books for every young boy to fall in love with. Getting your young boy interested in reading at an early age will instill a lifetime love of learning.
