She sighed deeply to herself. She couldn't help, but wonder if she was doing the right thing. She knew he wanted her again like before, but what she couldn't understand was why he still hounded her repeatedly. He'd had his fun with her once already. Why again? Wasn't it enough for him?
Closing her small case, she left it by the front door and changed into some clean clothes. She wore a pink sleeveless sun dress. It was short and showed off the brilliant tan on her legs. She knew it would tempt Demetri more, but somehow she was past caring. She wanted him more than ever and she couldn't push these feelings away. They were too strong and she didn't have enough strength to walk away from them. It was as if a brick lay in her path and she couldn't get past it.
She made herself a cool drink and began to sip it, when a knock sounded at the door. It was Demetri. He stood tall and handsome in blue tailored shorts and a white shirt. Her stomach quivered at the sight of him. Butterflies whirled within her, as he stepped inside.
"Are you ready?" She nodded, unable to speak. "Then we must leave at once. We have to be there in time for us to get the boat. It leaves in one hour and we mustn't be late. Come. I'll take your case."
He carried her case to the car, putting it in the boot, as she closed the door behind her.
"Does anyone know that I'm taking a trip to Greece with you, Demetri? What if Marina comes looking for me? Shouldn't I have told her about where I'm going?"
Thinking of this, made her panic.
"Don't worry. Marina knows everything. She won't tell my parents. I promise."
"What do you mean she knows everything?"
"About us going on this trip. She knows I have business there and I told her you wanted to go, so you could do some sight seeing in Athens. That's all. Please don't worry. Everything will be fine. You'll see."
"I hope so, Demetri. I don't want to cause a problem between you and your family."
It was true. She liked his parents and she didn't think they should shock them with any unnecessary gossip about her and Demetri. They'd been through too much trauma lately and it wasn't fair to add to it.
"You won't. Now can we change the subject?" he asked diligently.
"Of course. What would you like to talk about?" she answered thoughtfully.
"Well now that you've asked, there is something I would like to know," he said.
"And what would that be, Demetri?"
She studied him carefully, as he slid in the driving seat next to her. She was sure that he had sounded uncomfortable with what he was about to ask.
"Phillipa, who was that man you were with earlier? I know it's none of my business, but I would just like to know. Please."
He started the engine and started to drive. She wasn't sure how to answer his question, but she wanted to tell him everything. There was nothing to hide. Jake was her past now.
"That was Jake. He came all the way over here from England to try and get me to go back with him. He wanted to marry me at one point, but he spoiled it by leaving me for another woman. He came to say that he's sorry and that he wants to make a fresh start with me again, but unfortunately I don't love him like I used to."
She peered out of the window, as Demetri drove into a parking space and stopped the car.
"I see. Then it is over between you and him?"
"Yes, it is, but he won't take no for an answer, but I'm not bothered about that, because now that he's over here, I think he'll easily find someone else. You see, he's more of a Casanova than a one woman man. Cyprus is a wonderful place and if I know Jake, he'll have another woman eating out of his hand again," she said laughing.
"Well, it sounds as if you're definitely over him, which gives me great pleasure," he said, as he turned to stare at her and pulled her towards him.
"Demetri, not here. We'll miss the boat."
"We've got plenty of time, my darling."
He kissed her harshly, as if he couldn't get enough of her. He smouldered her lips into his, as his hands wandered down to her legs, stroking them passionately. His hands pushed her dress up higher. She moaned, feeling his hands move to the top of her dress and then pushing the straps of it down. Her breasts were bare beneath it, not having worn a bra. His fingers stroked them delightedly. Bending his head towards them, he kissed them. Her arms instinctively went up around his neck. She wanted him desperately, but she knew she couldn't. Not here.
"Demetri...please...we must stop."
"I know," he answered, lifting his head to look at her.
Pulling the straps of her dress back into place, she sat up quickly with tingling emotions of embarrassment. She had felt so much passion for Demetri that it was hard let go.
"We will finish this tonight, my darling. Come, we must get on that boat."
Leaving the car and getting their luggage, they walked hand-in-hand to the huge boat sitting on the dock.
She was feeling happy and she didn't want anything to spoil it. Even if she couldn't have Demetri in the long term, she could have him now and enjoy it whilst she had the chance.
The boat was lavishly furnished and she instantly knew it was privately owned by Demetri when, as she, later, realised that there wasn't any other passengers. She wasn't completely alone. There was the captain and the crew, but it was obvious that Demetri had kept even that to a minimum.
"Come, Phillipa. I will take you to the lounge where we will be served with cool drinks."
"That's nice," was all she could say for now.
They went down some stairs and entered a small air-conditioned room with comfortable seating and a bar. She was gasping for a drink. The afternoon heat was completely unbearable and she felt enormously relieved to be somewhere cool.
They sat on the soft leather seating next to each other. Demetri had ordered two drinks, bringing them to the table. He moved closer to her and her cheeks flushed deeply, as his thigh touched hers. It was an endless affair of passion and heated feelings of love for her. She didn't think that Demetri would ever feel the same way as she did. It was foolish to believe that they could ever build a relationship together. He was a rich Greek who could have anyone he wanted. It was obvious that she didn't stand a chance with him.
She sipped her drink, glancing at Demetri serenely. With both hands clutched around his glass, his rugged features made her quiver inside. He was so handsome and fierce looking. She wanted to grab hold of him and pull him to her, but she knew she shouldn't. Not here anyway. It wouldn't be like her to do such a thing and she'd never have the guts to do it in the first place.
As if he sensed her watching, he turned and stared into her eyes. Her breathing stopped for a fraction of a second, as her lashes fluttered wide open and her heart beat quickened excitedly.
"Are you feeling okay? You're not too hot?" He asked, expressing concern.
"No. I'm fine. It's cool here and I like it. Is it your boat, Demetri?"
"Yes. How did you know?"
"I didn't. I guessed. You seem to have so many things that I thought this might be yours too."
Finishing his drink, he put the glass aside and leant closer towards her. Her body shook with delight, as he rested his hand on her waist and looked passionately at her with brown seducing eyes.
"Let us leave here now, Phillipa and go below to the cabin. We must rest, as it'll take time to arrive in Athens."
"Rest? But why? I'm not tired, Demetri."
"Are you worried about sharing a cabin with me?"
"No...uh...I mean, why do I have to share a cabin with you? Surely you have more than one here?"
"No, I don't. It's a boat for only two people. Are you shocked? I'm sorry, but I thought you'd like it here with me. We need to spend time together, so we can get to know one another more intimately."
She panicked at the sound of his words, worried that she would reveal her desire for him. She tensed inside, as quivering feelings of passion began to inflame her inner being. They stared at one another and she knew that she wanted him more than ever.
He touched her hand and then took it in his, pulling her up away from the table.
"Come, my beautiful sweetheart. I want to explore that exquisite body of yours." His words sent shivering sensations down her back, as they made their way to the cabin.
