Some elderly will not have any visitors on Thanksgiving Day and would love the company. Prior to Thanksgiving, have your family work together and create some Thanksgiving turkeys made out of pinecones to give to the elderly as a gift. I remember when I was little, I had surgery that required a few overnight stays and it was Easter. I had a visitor that brought a little Easter basket with candy.
