Charles Krauthammer: Obamacare to Result in National Sales Tax on Americans; Public Option Already Here

Marc Schenker
Influential conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer is predicting that to pay for the unconstitutional mess known as Obamacare, Obama will have to push for a National Sales Tax within the coming year. In analysis delivered on the O'Reilly Factor, Krauthammer explained why he's certain that the Public Option-long denied by Obama and the Democrats as something we would see-is in fact here already, too, in the very bill Obama signed into law just yesterday. A sales tax is defined as a levy on the sale of goods and services, likely imposed at different levels of business activity; so it's really a value-added tax, which is especially vicious because its costs are passed on to the consumer as businesses raise prices. It also hits the poor harder because of its regressive tax nature. The National Sales Tax may be inevitable because of the hidden costs of Obamacare, which are a lot more extreme than what Democrats will let on.

According to not only Krauthammer but authoritative sources, the way the Obamacare bill was written was basically one, gigantic fraud as it tactically hid a lot of the real costs associated with it. The reason for this cover-up was to trick gullible Americans into supporting it who would otherwise cringe at the hard reality of supporting worsening, out-of-control deficits. For instance, though Obama kept lying that his wealth redistribution bill would cost "only" $100 billion per year and bring down deficits by up to $1 trillion (I know, I know, that crock is nothing but Bernie Madoff-style accounting chicanery), the real analysis had it at around $2.3 trillion over a decade with deficits approaching half a trillion dollars at least in the first 10 years.

So, Krauthammer sensibly reasons, in order for Obama to even have a shot at beginning to pay for the crushing, overwhelming costs of Obamacare...he's going to have to resort to a hike in taxes. Not just any old taxes, but a national sales tax. For those that know anything about taxes, they know that sales taxes-which many states already employ-are taxes that the government particularly likes to impose on its citizens because of their nature to aggressively and quickly collect large revenues in a way that's easy for the government. In short, it's the wet dream tax of governments due to their desirability from a government's standpoint: Western Europe has relied on a close variation of the sales tax, the value-added tax, for the longest time.

To this end, Obama has already appointed a supposedly "bipartisan" commission to look at just how to bring down the increasingly worsening deficits of his own making. Krauthammer, in his ever-sharp and astute perceptiveness, has also zeroed in on the severe probability that Obama will use this panel for cynical, political cover to push for his National Sales Tax as a means to bringing down the monstrous deficit. When you think about it, it makes all the sense in the world since Obamacare is one of the biggest entitlement programs ever, and unless he does something about the deficits, the US will continue to lose jobs. Curiously, Krauthammer may actually be very close in nailing Obama for his surreptitious strategy about using a sales tax to bring down deficits, because the so-called "bipartisan" commission is already the subject of fears that more moderate Republicans will publicly agree with Democrats who insist on a sales tax, just out of the need to do "something"-anything-to curb the deficits.

Now on the issue of the Public Option already being inside the Obamacare bill that was just, repulsively, signed into law, Charles Krauthammer argues that it's already here-in the form of the insurance companies that Obamacare will use to do its dirty work! Under the structure of Obamacare, insurance companies will act like-What did he call them again? Oh ,yeah!-the "lapdogs" of the federal government, where their function will be to exclusively collect on behalf of the federal government under national health insurance. They will become utilities that collect the money and premiums, and the federal government will absolutely control who and how these insurance companies insure and for how much!

So there you have it. If you still were holding out even a teeny, tiny modicum of a doomed hope that Obamacare had some benefits, I urge you to find them now, after this disclosure that another massive, federal government maneuver will be looming on the horizon, within the next year in all probability. So far, Obamacare only promises skyrocketing deficits, fewer freedoms, penalties in the form of fines, government oversight of everything, and, now, an additional national sales tax on top of all that other adversity.

Well, this prediction proved about as accurate as the one the loony preacher made about the end of the world. After all, a year's more than up -- and still no national sales tax.

    Krauthammer: 0
    Reality: 1

Gee, I thought the right wing fascists LOVED the sales tax, because the poor pay more than the rich. I guess you don't like it when a liberal pushes for a sales tax. Now, a VAT, that's a little better.

BO and Congress are making a welfare state of America...sending hard working people into debt with taxes and their hard-earned money to people who didn't earn it.

    Excellent.. :o)

The only sales tax I want to see is the FairTax, along with the abolishment of the income tax. We'll never see that under THIS administration though.
