Charles Penzone Family of Salons Columbus, OH- My Hair Design Experience
A Personal Review of the Top Salon in Central Ohio
Recently I went to the Grand Salon located on Polaris Parkway. I originally set an appointment for a haircut and style as well as a seaweed body masque. A couple days before I went for my appointment, I had concerns about the body treatment. I am semi-claustrophobic and wasn't sure what they would use to "wrap" me with once the seaweed mud masque was applied. I had decided to call the customer service center and was pleasantly surprised with the help I received over the phone. The woman I was initially speaking with on the phone was unaware of this certain spa procedure so she actually transferred me to the spa in order to speak with one of the women that did the body wrapping. The amount of customer service was very refreshing, especially since it was only the telephone and not actually face-to-face in the salon.
Needless to say, I canceled the spa treatment and they helped me to pick something else that would better suit my needs. I rescheduled my spa appointment for later in the week so I could have a body polish and therapeutic massage. I did however keep my hair appointment and was very eager to see what the stylist had in store for me.
I had never been to a Charles Penzone Salon before, so when I walked into the Grand Salon for the first time I was very pleased. The relaxing seating area was very comforting and peaceful. Upon walking in, I was automatically greeted by an associate that took my name to check me in, as well as offer me a beverage of my choice. After removing my jacket and taking a seat, I was brought an ice water and within five minutes I was introduced to my personal stylist, Dixie.
Dixie led me to the hair styling area, which consists of eighteen hair stations. She took my coat and hung it for me in the coat room, then set my purse aside. She then asked what kind of cut I was looking for and I basically let her know that she had free reign to do what she wanted. In the past I had made the mistake of allowing a stylist to do what they wanted; leading to a very short and spiky cut. With Dixie, she assessed my face shape and then walked me through the idea she had in mind, ending with a question of my approval. I was pleased with what she suggested and so it was off to get a relaxing shampoo.
After the shampoo and mini-scalp massage, we walked back to her chair where she began the hair cutting process. During the entire time, she was very friendly with conversation yet remained focused and professional as well. I was even able to ask her opinion of different spa features and found her answers to be very helpful as well.
The entire consultation, cut and style took approximately and hour. When she was finished I was very happy with the cut as well as the styling. Also, she did not pressure me into purchasing hair care products, which happens in some salons. She then walked me to the front, thanked me, and I was done. At the front desk, the women were very nice as well and even gave me a reminder card for my future spa treatment. They also confirmed that the body polish and massage was a very good treatment.
In the end I was very pleased with my entire experience at the Charles Penzone salon. The staff was very courteous and helpful, and the entire setting of the salon was very peaceful and relaxing. I am anxious to return later this week for my body polish and massage, knowing I will get "star quality" treatment. I would definitely recommend Charles Penzones to everyone. I believe that with one visit, anyone could become a customer for life. I know I will be.

Post a CommentWell,Im not donating my hair...and after what Ive read here Im afraid to go in for my first visit....
I had a really great experience at the Charles Penzone in Columbus. I had grown my hair long, and I scheduled an appointment for the same days the Race for the Cure. I went and particiapted in the race and then I donated my hair to Locks of Love. They cut my hair at no charge because I was donating it. It was a great haircut. I got a lot of compliments on it, and I think it's great they go as far as giving free haircuts of you doante your long hair for cancer patients.
My Penzone experience at Colombus, Polaris, was horrible. I went for a hair color and they did not even bring me swabs to see but just colored my hair a horrible black (I was brown when I went in with grey roots). They have different levels of hairstylist but at those prices you expect even the lowest level to do a decent job. I asked to have cream put on my face so the dye did not stain, but they ignored me. My entire hairline was stained. I went back the next day to get the color corrected and they bleached the back but not the front, and then dyed my hair practically the same color. After 6 hours the stylist told me she would start over if I was not happy and made me sign a paper saying it was ok. I would have walked out of their bald by that time just to escape. Where was senior person? I have been to other salons all over the country and this one was the worst salon mill I have ever been to. There is not one area that is relaxing, calming, or posh. The massage rooms were w
My Penzone experience at Gahanna was horrible! I told the stylist just what I wanted and she disregarded my instructions entirely cutting off my red curls to a very short, butch cut that was asymetrical. It was a nightmare. The public relations people tried to make it up to me by having a senior stylist try to fix it but there wasn't much to work with. They agreed with me that it was messed up totally. To add injury to insult I was overcharged 3 times in 2 visits! I found the place highly over-rated and over-priced. I'll never go there again and when people ask what happened to my hair I tell them!!!
