Charlie Sheen and Other Celebrities Who've Battled Sexual Addiction

Carol Whyte
Charlie Sheen's name is on nearly every media outlet lately especially with a slew of unfortunate and disturbing events centered around his addictive behavior. In addition to drug and alcohol addictions, Sheen also has an apparent addiction to both sex and porngraphy.

But he's not the only celebrity in recent years to be facing sexual addiction. Tiger Woods, Russell Brand and David Duchovny have already been where Charlie is now.

Unlike Woods, Brand, and Duchovny who recognized and admitted they had a sexual addiction, many reports are stating that Charlie doesn't see a problem with himself.

In a report by People dated January 28, a source tells the celebrity magazine, "He doesn't think he's going to die. He doesn't want to stop. In his eyes, he thinks, 'I'm having fun, so what? I'm making $2 million a week, the show has the best ratings, I show up for up work. What's the problem?'

The problem is that until Charlie Sheen recognizes the severity of his addictions, he will continue to flounder in his current state and possibly toy with dire consequences if he does not seek help.

Sheen is not the only big name star that's in trouble or has been. The following information is about Tiger Woods, Russell Brand and David Duchovny who all bravely sought help for their sexual addiction.

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods was embroiled in one of the most salacious sexual scandals which began to unravel on Thanksgiving evening in November. 2009. The story of Wood's sexual addiction shattered the sterling reputation of the world's best golfer and shocked millions.

There were so many women that Woods had become involved with over the years, that slideshows
such as 'The women linked to Tiger Woods' (Fox News) were popping up daily.

There's also a storyline slideshow that explains the Tiger Woods' story here.

To get help, Woods entered rehab at Pine Grove Behavioral Health & Addiction Services, in Hattiesburg, MS. Despite this, Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren, eventually divorced him.

Russell Brand

Before becoming engaged to Katy Perry, Russell Brand was going through women left and right. In fact, one report said that his sexual addiction was so severe that he hired people to help him "target women" with whom he would have liaisons.

A report by Huffington Post dated May 13, 2010 says that Brand spoke to Playboy (for their June, 2010 issue) and said, "When I was at my most promiscuous, I was like a charging locomotive."

Additionally, Brand explained,"My selection process was outsourced. I had a team of experts who took care of finding women for me. They had very specific instructions. It was as if I was talking to a wine steward - 'I'm looking for something French, a bit fruity, smells of oak.'"

Brand realized he needed help and got it. He is now happily married and considers himself a reformed sex addict.

David Duchovny

David Duchovny's name was sizzling hot when news of his sexual addiction became public in August, 2008 and he promptly checked himself into rehab.

According to a report by E! News Duchovny released a statement at that time saying, "I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction."

Duchovny had previously denied a sexual addiction to Playboy in 1997 and later that year in May, married actress Tea Leoni.

However, by 2008 Duchovny was ready to admit that he was indeed an addict and sought help.

Although the couple separated for a while with rumors that Tea was having an affair with Billy Bob Thornton, they got back together in May, 2009. His hit show Californification (which appears on Showtime) was just renewed for a fifth season.
