Charlie Weis Fuels the Fire to His Own Hot Seat

Charlie Appeared Unapologetic After Losing to Unranked Navy Saturday

Ever wish you could go through life without a care in the world. Deflect all the bad things around you and just float through life without a care in the world? Maybe Charlie Weis should write another book and let us in on his secret. Following the devastating loss to unranked Navy, Weis appeared unapologetic. Explaining why his supposed BCS contending team couldn't contend with a solid Navy team.

Let's not forget Navy gave Ohio St a scare the first game of the season. Still that being said, shouldn't Notre Dame have been better prepared Saturday? No doubt Navy was pointing to this game all season after they almost upset the Buckeyes.

On ESPN radio All Night, ESPN analyst Beano Cooke reiterated a comment he made in 1975, "I said it then I say it now the three toughest jobs in the country are The President of the United States, the Mayor of New York and the Notre Dame head football coach." Cooke went on to say Weis' days are numbered and also threw out a popular name when it comes to speculation on Wies' replacement. Jon Gruden.

On Gruden's part he says he is happy where is, color commentating on ESPN Monday Night Football. If you watch the games and listen to the Monday night crew there is palpable tension between Ron Jaworski and the overbearing Gruden. I'm sure Jaws wouldn't mind Gruden taking the the Notre Dame job.

As for Notre Dame alumni they can't wait to get rid of Weis. Going as far as to erecting a negative billboard close to the stadium. The billboard said, "Best wishes to Charlie Weis in the 5th year of his college internship signed Linebacker Alumni". Former Notre Dame linebacker Tom Reynolds wrote in an email to the South Bend Tribune, explaining the billboard "By definition, a good football coach does not lose games when he has superior talent on the field, and at least splits the games where the talent is approximately equal"

You can be assured the golden domer alums are drooling over themselves hoping to have an opportunity to land a fiery head coach the likes of Gruden. They most assuredly have images of Gruden scowling on the sidelines and pumping up his players in the locker room--a polar opposite of the disheveled seemingly lost Weis.
