Charlotte Bobcats Get New Threads After 5-Season Anniversary

From 2004 to 2009, the Charlotte Bobcats made their stamp on the National Basketball Association as a pseudo-replacement franchise for the former Charlotte Hornets, now based in New Orleans. As such, the Bobcats took to forming a unique identity that set them apart from their brethren with a bright image, using bright Bobcat orange and blue hues that, while unique, were the only things that really made them identifiable as a basketball team (besides Michael Jordan and losing). After commemorating the 2008-2009 regular season with a special edition uniform patch highlighting their first five years in the NBA, the Bobcats have taken to a new look that reflects their Hornets ancestry.

Wearing the home version of the upgraded uniform, rookie lottery pick Gerald Henderson sported a Bobcats jersey that looks significantly different and improved when contracted for the uniforms of old. There are several differences which include: an arched blue "BOBCATS" wordmark emblazoned across the chest (instead of the more linear and horizontal workmark from before), a tri-colored collar of blue, white and orange that runs along the neckline (unlike the former bi-colored collar with triangle insert), the lack of armhole trim, the aforementioned tri-colored line pattern that runs alongside the outer chest and abdomen (a la Orlando Magic), and most notably, pinstripes that seemingly pay homage to the former Hornets franchise.

From what was shown, the new uniforms appear to be a major upgrade. The jersey itself places more emphasis on blue and less so on orange, unlike previous years. The V-neck collar is a true "V" and the blue emphasis of the jersey gives the look of a more distinguished image.
