Charlotte County Historical Center's Annual Symphony of Trees

The Symphony of Trees is put on by the Charlotte County Historical Center each year at the end of November and the beginning of December. This event is a big deal in the community and has been going on for over 17 years now. This event helps many non profit organizations raise money during the holidays.

This event is where many non profit organizations donate pre decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, and centerpieces. These items are then bid on during a silent auction over a period of several days and at the end the winner gets to take the item home and add it to their holiday collection!

Each tree, wreath, and centerpiece has a theme. Many organizations will embrace the Florida theme and do boats or shells and Florida wildlife. Others will do holiday themes and some will do very unique themes such as one in 2007 called Ho Ho Ho! Have a Hippie Christmas, donated by the American Cancer Society. They did a tree and a wreath to a hippie theme which turned out very cute!

Now, these items also get awarded prize for most creative, most original and also People's Choice where you, the visitors, get to choose your favorite tree, wreath and centerpiece.

When you purchase an item here all the proceeds go directly to the organization that donated the trees. Small trees will start at about $35 and go up, while larger trees will start at $75 and go up. Wreaths will start at $35 and go up and centerpieces will start at $25 and go up depending on size and bidding.

During this event they will also have a raffle of different crafts and gift cards from around the area. Tickets will start at $1 for one entry or $5 for six tickets.

Many local people will also donate homemade crafts to the center at this time and are available for purchase to benefit the Museum in the gift shop. They have everything from home made hats and aprons to the famous 'Snowman's Soup'.

This event is mainly sponsored by the Charlotte Sun along with many restaurants in the area like Café Ruelle, Subway, Obees Subs, Chili's, Publix and Sweetbay Supermarkets and many other contributors.

Prices and dates are subject to change each year so visit the Charlotte County Historical Center's Website for more information or contact Debra Fabiszak, the Program Coordinator at 941-629-7278.
