#5 The Knights Get Shut Down
The Knights, Charlotte's baseball team, were completely shut down by the Gwinnett Braves 7-0. This was their fourth in a row losing season. Not looking so good for Charlotte baseball. All of this can be read in the September 7th version of the Charlotte Observer.
#4 The Panthers Lose On Their Own Turf
The Panthers lose to Atlanta in their own territory. In December, the Panthers lost to Atlanta in a very humiliating setting - their very own stadium, the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. It was ugly for everyone. Check it out in Sportsbook Gurus.
#3, The Infamous Richardson Letter
Everyone knows about "The Richardson Letter". The owner of the Panthers, Jerry Richardson, sent a message to season ticket holders to apologize about how terribly the NC team had performed this year. How much worse can it get than for the team's owner to send you a letter of apology, regret, and encouragement to be hopeful for next season? Read it at www.nationalfootballpost.com/Jerry- Richardson-sends-letter-to-Panthers-PSL

#2. The Bobcats Fall On Their Faces
Charlotte's very own basketball team, the Bobcats, make it to the playoffs and completely fall on their face. Yes, in the entire franchise history, the Bobcats made their first playoff appearance. But it didn't go too well for anyone involved - the team co-owner is Michael Jordan, and his boat was sunk after this defeat (this after it was he who believed the team had arrived on the NBA scene, which it was obvious they weren't ready). After the jump ball, Jordan could be seen on the sidelines quite disappointed in the team, and certainly Charlotte was no longer smiling when Orlando Magic beat them like they were a little itty bitty high school team. A very, very sad time for Charlotte.
#1. Mr, Delhomme Came Back With the Browns And Beat Our Butts
And everyone also knows about the man called Jake - Mr. Delhomme, that is. He was that infamous Panther's quarterback who did great for last year's winnings and then got dumped by NC. Then, even after being dumped, NC still paid him twelve million dollars. But what makes it even worse is that he came right back onto the scene with the Cleveland Browns, whooped our butts, and did so right on our own home field here in Charlotte. Man this stinks.
All of the stories can also be read at CharlotteObserver.com.
