On Wednesday, December 1st, 2010, Charlotte's Urban Ministry Center will receive help through the efforts of WSOC-TV in Charlotte to collect items needed for Room In the Inn.

This is the 14th year that WSOC-TV has assisted in this effort for Charlotte's Urban Ministry Center.. Those able to donate socks, gloves, and warm clothing may bring the items to WSOC-TV on Wednesday. The location is 1901 North Tryon Street in Charlotte.

Most people in Charlotte are very aware of the Urban Ministry Center and the work they do. Each year many local residents make an effort to be involved with the Urban Ministry throughout the year.

Charlotte's Urban Ministry is also asking for backpacks and winter clothing. The Room In the Inn offers emergency clothing and shelter for those referred to as neighbors. The collection at WSOC-TV will be from 10 AM until 7 PM. Reporters and some Channel 9 anchors are scheduled to be on hand during the collection during these hours.

This writer believes the Urban Ministry Center is a very important part of the community and their contribution is extremely valuable and appreciated.

There are approximately 100 congregations and colleges helping with the collection of items needed by the homeless in Charlotte. Anyone needing more information about the collection may contact Rossana Seitter at 704-335-4780.
