Chase Bank Privacy Policy: Selling You Out?

Pix
Chase Bank offers some of the best internet features for online banking you can find. The ability to quickly check and monitor your savings/credit cards/and checking account transactions is unmatchable. This is all very convenient, but are they selling you out? Chase bank offers these services to you because they stand to make a great profit if you stay with them. How do they make this profit? They share and sell your information to outside sources. They don't only share your information in the company; they also share your information with other financial companies that Chase Bank works with. This can include income and transactions in order to see if you are eligible for other credit cards and services.

It is true that Chase Bank isn't the only company that does this, but the amount of junk mail received after joining with them is quite superfluous. After opening a bank account with them, I have received a lot of junk mail from airlines, other credit cards, and especially junk mail from the bank itself. They like to send you checks for 25 dollars, and in the fine print it'll say that if you cash it you're signing up for a service that cost money every month. These tricky tactics are meant to confuse you.

Also, they claim they are sharing you information to offer you these services for your convenience, but these are all financial companies that Chase stands to make a profit from. So how do you make it stop? You have to call in and tell them to stop sharing information. The number to call is 1-888-868-8618. You'll then have an opportunity to specify if you want them to stop sharing information within the company and outside the company. This can take 4-6 weeks to be enacted. If you have a joint account both you and the other joint account member have to call in separately. If only one person calls in, then they will still share information about the other person.

Also, it is important to note that just because you call in and state your preferences, Chase Bank is still able to share information about you when permitted or required by law. If you have an account with Chase, I recommend that you call in as soon as possible and make your privacy choices known. For further information visit their privacy website. It will have all applicable information there.
