Chase Manhattan Free Checking Review

I opened up an account with Chase Manhattan, I was drawn to their "free checking" account offer and I have had an account for about a year there. I use the account for small things like pay pal transfers and purchases online. I don't really have a problem with it. Anyway they have great fraud protection over there and I will go into that as well.

Chase Manhattan bought my old bank which used to be the Bank of New York, I believe they went out of business because I haven't seen any other Bank of New York's around. So I didn't really open up an account there, I already had an account with a bank they had bought if that makes any sense. Bank of New York went out of business a couple of years ago, I like Chase a lot better then my old bank. Especially their fraud protection services and the ease of using their debit card. You can also use their debit card like a credit card and not have to pay a fee that goes with using your debit card.

One thing I noticed about Chase Manhattan is they have lots of over draft fee's and they really harass you if your bank is over draft. They want to take care of it as soon as possible. They also charge you a big over draft fee of $32 for every over draft so you do not want to mess with that. So if your thinking about over drawing your bank, then don't pick Chase Manhattan as they have one of the largest over draft fees.

My account was recently hit with over $500 in transactions I didn't make. Chase told me to come in to the branch. They opened up a new account, and closed the old one and credited my money back to me. I thought that was really cool of them. I also like the fact that they don't charge you anything at all so you can keep a next to nothing balance and they won't overdraw your account. I've had bank accounts draw on my account because my balance was too low.

In conclusion, Chase Manhattan free checking is a great offer, and doesn't cost a thing to open or maintain a checking account. They have very good fraud protection and they will credit your account while they investigate the fraud. I would recommend Chase Manhattan to any of my family or friends, as it is a good place to have a checking account and keep your money.
