Chasing Jason Castro: Will You Choose Those Baby Blues?

Jason Castro has an air about him that just seems to calm a room upon his entering. His striking blue eyes tell a story of someone who is content with life. Each week his song choice seems to come from his heart and he flashes those soft baby blues straight into the camera. The songs all carry some message that says there is more to Jason than meets the eye.

His talent doesn't stop at singing. One week he just went out and purchased a ukulele and learned the song he would be performing the night before his performance. However he performed it so well that if you hadn't been told that he just learned this song on this new instrument the night before you would never have known. It appeared to have been part of him for years. He has an impact on the audience too and each week it seems that there is a larger percentage of the crowd screaming when he enters the stage.

Does he have what it takes to be the next American Idol? He just may be the surprise. This season has certainly become one of surprises. Even though he was in the bottom three, once, it doesn't seem to have had a negative impact on him and hasn't destroyed any of his confidence. He seems to accept what comes his way without being knocked off his center.

If he makes it to the top two it would seem that David Archuleta would be his running mate. David also picks songs that speak from the heart. Both have an innocent air about them and a purity that you just want to "put in a bottle" for safe keeping. It is rare. It is refreshing each and every time they take center stage. Could he be the next American Idol? Yes he could. It seems like it's still in the realm of possibility.
