Vacationing in Chattanooga, Tennessee is a whiskey barrel of fun if you go to the right places. This mountain city in the middle of the state of Tennessee is one of the most beautiful and serene cities in the United States. Visiting here combines a wonderful mix of mountain atmosphere with urban convenience. Planning your vacation here is a great idea. Here are things to do in Chattanooga on vacation.

You don't want to come to Chattanooga without visiting the Rock City Gardens. Here you will find a natural wonderland at the top of Lookout Mountain but just six miles from downtown Chattanooga. Coming into Rock City, you will travel through the Grand Corridor, which is one of the sites to see here at Rock City. This entrance is an ancient rock formation that is a perfect walkway into the many other attractions to Rock City.

This winding stone path leads to the other amazing rock formations like Needle's Eye, the narrow pathway through boulders forming such a slim space that sunlight is said to barely pass through it. Catch a glimpse of a rare species of deer, the white fallow deer, which was transported to Chattanooga from Europe in the 1930's.

The Swing-A-Long Bridge, a 180 foot swinging bridge, offers visitors a challenge to cross while experiencing a breath taking view of the canyon. This is one that you won't want to cross without looking down, but it will be hard! The Rock City Gardens has gardens with over four hundred different rare species of native plants. If you get hungry, have lunch at the Big Rock Grill.

Another site to be sure not to miss is the cave known as Ruby Falls. Weather is not a factor, and it is always sixty degrees in the cave. This is a beautiful waterfall drops over three hundred gallons of water per minute. This is located on Lookout Mountain, so you can go from Rock City Gardens to Ruby Falls when you have exhausted the sites of Rock City Gardens.

For a sensual delight, go to the Bluff View Art District, where you will find hand dipped chocolates from chocolatiers, a beautiful sculpture garden, and landscaped alleys leading to a fountain courtyard. This would also be a nice place to find lodging at the Bluff View Inn where you can relax on your own private balcony overlooking the valley.

The Bluff View Inn provides rooms in renovated and restored homes from the turn of the twentieth century. There are three of these beautiful homes to create rooms in a variety of styles because of the variety of homes the rooms are in. The Bluff View Inn is the center piece of the Bluff View Art District. Here, sixteen distinct rooms are spread out through three different homes.
