Paint Chips
You can get as many of these you want for one great price. That's called free. Now don't be greedy and take everything the store has, but a few here and there each time you go into the store wont hurt anything. These awesome paint chips can be glued; cut and altered anyway you can normal cardstock. They have small sizes and larger ones. Get creative with them. Along with these, they often have project booklets that show you what colors go with what. You might find a new color layout for your scrapbook that you never would have thought about before.
Vacation Mementos
How many times have you went on vacation only to come home and throw away all the things you collected during your trip? I am talking about all the free brochures, maps, ticket stubs, park passes, postcards and anything else that you receive. All of these paper items can be used in your scrapbook. They can all be used as props, embellishments, cut outs, picture frames, boarders and anything else that you can think off. Even if you don't use them on your vacation page, save them for future use. You might find down the road you need them for something.
Wallpaper Samples
These things work out great for back drops, cutting and much more. If you know someone who works at a home improvement store you can ask them to save you all the wallpaper sample books. Once they discontinue books, they throw them out anyway. So you can use these for your scrap booking instead. These wallpaper books are often larger in size and have around a hundred different patterns and textures. These can go into die cut machines as well making them even fancier when you cut out a design in them. You can use them for borders, mats and anything else you can think of.
Eye Shadow
If you go to the dollar store, you can purchase their eye shadow. Grab a few different shades and go home and experiment. They often come in packs with several different color combinations. These eye shadows can replace the expensive chalking sets they sell at your local craft store.
