All you need to do is replace some of the more expensive items with generic ones. The birthday plates, napkins, cups and table clothes can be the birthday theme that when ordered or bought could cost quite a lot of money. Instead you can accentuate with a few birthday party themed items. You can even make your own decorations with online printables. Just search for your birthday party theme plus online printables. There are many places online that have printable invitations so you will not have to pay for party invitations.

For example: If your daughter wants a Disney Princess themed birthday party you may think you will be shelling out money. Many of the store bought Disney Princess birthday party supplies can cost a fortune. You could try to get a few decorations that have the Disney Princesses on them, then get pink plates, pink cups, pink napkins, etc. When throwing a cheap birthday party think accessories, instead of everything character branded.

You can bake your own birthday cake for a fraction of the price of a store bought one. Or get that one special family member who can make a great looking birthday cake for you. If you have to make a birthday cake yourself they often sell little kits at craft stores. At some grocery stores you can find pre-made frosting that can be placed on a cake, makes the whole process nice and easy.

If your child wants a Spiderman piñata or another birthday themed piñata just make one. You can find great step-by-step directions with photos for how to make your own piñata at www.pinataboy.com. You only need a few items to make the piñata's on your own saving you additional money.

For birthday party games that go along with your theme, search online. Chances are that someone else has come up with a way to alter a game so it goes along with their birthday party theme. Then those creative types have blogged or commented somewhere and you can use their birthday party game ideas.

As you can see there is no reason to break the bank or your budget for a birthday party. It may take more effort and birthday party planning on your part, but in the end it will be worth it. You can even have the birthday boy or girl help out; this gives them a sense of pride and accomplishment. They will love bragging to family and friends that they did it themselves.
