A Few Simple Ideas

Christmas is not just for children! Don't forget your furry family members this year. Even if you are on a budget, you can still find a great cheap Christmas gift for your dog. Here are a few simple ideas.

Does your dog have a favorite treat? Just put a bow around the box or bone and get ready to have a very happy doggy.

There are a several stores and websites, such as i-pets.com that have inexpensive pre-made Christmas stockings filled with crunchy and rawhide treats. You can find a 5 piece mini-stocking for $1.25 to 22" extra large dog stocking for $12.00.

If you would rather fill up your own stocking, you can surprisingly find some very pretty ones at local dollar stores. You can fill it up with your dog's favorite treat and/or toy. If you are creative, you can purchase a plain stocking and add a design or your dog's name.

Perhaps your puppy needs a new water or food bowl. Don't buy those expensive pet bowls, but try looking at the clearance section of your local mass retailer or department store. You will be sure to find an assortment of mismatched bowls to choose from at a great price. You can even personalize the bowl yourself. Place the bowl in a gift bag with a treat and you have a perfect gift for your pup.

You can also find nice placemats that you can use for under your dog's dish at the local dollar store or clearance section. Just wrap the placemat around a big dog bone treat or add some small bone treats to the ribbon.

If you love to cook and bake, how about baking your own dog treats. There are a lot of websites dedicated to homemade treats that are sure to please your puppy. You can find peanut butter, cheese, apple cinnamon, bacon, banana, chicken and many more flavors to choose from.

For all the sewers out there, try making a homemade gift for your dog. If you have lots of scrap material, you can try to quilt it together and make a warm blanket or bed. Do you dress your dog? Then try making a sweater or sweatshirt, which you can even personalize.

Finally, if you are on a tight budget, but still want to give your dog the best gift this Christmas, what better to give than your time? Plan a little extra time in your day to play fetch. Or just sit in front of the fireplace and show your dog more affection. What doggie doesn't love a good belly rub.
