First impressions of the SanDisk is that it is a fancier version of the iPod Nano. Your main controls come in the form of a rotating front dial that is also similar to most iPod devices. The main difference is that the front dial also acts as four different navigation buttons. Each navigation button will lead you to a different set of options. These options include play lists, settings, volume, and FM radio. Each button can also be used to change the playback of the songs that are you listening to. Basically, the center control is the main control to the entire MP3 player.
You will also quickly notice that the LCD display is very crisp. It is large enough to watch the occasional music video, but not big enough to watch for a long period of time. What I mean by this is that the screen is small enough to bother your eyes after awhile. You do not want to strain your eyes for too long and I recommend that you do not try to watch too many videos on this MP3 player at one time.
However, what amazes me the most about the Sansa Fuze MP3 player is the extra features that it provides and the iPod does not provide you. You end up with an MP3 player, built in microphone, FM radio, microSD slot, and the capability to transfer music files very easily. The cool thing about having a microSD slot is that you have the ability to buy future memory cards that will allow you to start far more music than the iPod Nano would ever let you. Currently, you can purchase an 8GB card for just under $30 bucks. This makes it incredibly easy to upgrade the music player when you feel it is necessary.
The Sansa Fuze MP3 player is a steal this holiday. You can find this MP3 player for sale on most sites from $40 to $70. The price range usually changes depending on the amount of gigabytes that you want to come with the MP3 player. My advice is to stick with the 2GB because you can store well over a 1000 songs at that memory capacity. Whomever receives this gift will be pleased no matter what. If you are looking for a cheap alternative this holiday season, it is definitely not too late to purchase one of these.
