Cheap Date Ideas - Inexpensive and High Quality

Lucinda Watrous
If you are looking for cheap date ideas, then this article is for you. Of course, when I say cheap I mean inexpensive, not poor in quality! I have several ideas to choose from all for $20 or less. After each date idea, I will list the estimated cost for the date, so you can choose one that best fits your budget.

Perhaps the most obvious date idea, is a movie night at home. Rent a movie, grab a bag of pop corn, some drinks and your sweetie. If you have a Netflix membership, the price of this date drops a bit as the cost per movie is reduced dramatically. Chances are you already have soda in your fridge, and if popcorn is not your thing, you have something to snack on readily available. Cost: Movie rental, snacks, gas (to get to the movie rental place and grocery store): Less than $10. You can wait until the kids go to bed to have some quiet time, so the extra nice thing about this date is it requires no babysitter.

An extension of the movie date would be to catch a cheaper show during the afternoon. No one says all dates have to be at night. If you are dying to see a film that is in the theatre, you can save anywhere from $3 to $5 per ticket by choosing the matinee. If you skip the drinks and popcorn at the concession stand, you have got yourself a movie date for about $15. Eat at home before you go catch the movie, and get a large drink to share. You will still get out of the movie theatre for around $20.

Another date idea is a dinner date. If you plan your grocery shopping ahead of time, you can buy food for a nice dinner fairly easily. A suggestion is steak with pasta or potatoes and vegetables. You can get one steak large enough for two people for about $4.00. Adding two baking potatoes for about a dollar each, instant mashed potatoes, or pasta roni (for a little over a dollar a box), and a small amount of frozen vegetables (a whole bag for about a dollar) makes the total cost of this dinner less than $10. Add the cost of the gas to get you to the store, and you still have a cheap, nice dinner date. Set the mood with candles and you have romance too. This is another date idea that does not necessarily require a sitter. But, if you are fortunate enough to have a free sitter at your hands, you may want to use it.

If you are really short on cash and desperate to do something with your significant other, try taking a nice walk in a scenic, romantic place. Drive out to the middle of nowhere, walk hand in hand while looking at the stars, and share an intense conversation. This will only cost you a babysitter, and the cost of the gas to get you there and back, so it is pretty close to free.

If you are really sort on cash and a babysitter is definitely not happening, try this one: Wait until the children are asleep, take a shower together, and after you are finished, give each other full body massages. It is very relaxing and sensual, and can bring the closeness between you and your partner to a completely new level. Plus, it can lead to some interesting action later. The cost of this date is free, unless you want to invest in special lotions for the massages.

Each of these cheap dates will be a hit, because it really does not matter what you are doing. All that matters is that you are spending time together!
