Cheap and Easy Bathroom Upgrade

Decorating a bathroom doesn't have to be expensive or time consuming. In fact for the price of a magazine you can alter your bathroom's motif tastefully.

When we moved into our new home our downstairs bathroom needed something. We painted it, put in some shelves, but it was still just a ho-hum bathroom.

That is until my wife decided to cut out some pictures from one of our favorite magazines, "The Surfers' Journal."

The Journal is filled with beautiful photographs of surfers and surf. Even if you don't know a thing about surfing the pictures are so well done and beautiful, that you'll never get sick of looking at them.

Most of the pictures are full-page and are printed on high quality heavy-duty paper. This makes them perfect for framing.

You don't need to go crazy on the frames. We spent no more than 5 bucks per frame. They are simple yet tasteful black frames. The frames give the pictures more class, but the picture itself is really the motif-altering asset.

If you don't have a subscription to The Surfers' Journal you can find it at magazine stands with a good selection.

Each issue has plenty of frame able pictures. The cover photo is usually the best picture. It adds some class and mystique to have the cover on the wall, because the cover page is always well done.

If you're not into surfing choose another high quality magazine. Remember, you don't want to use pictures from regular magazines because most of them use low quality paper. It is thin and hard to frame properly. It'll come out looking cheap.

Most magazines use better quality paper for their covers. So, if you find a cover picture you like, evaluate whether the paper quality is good enough to hold up in a frame.

Depending on which theme you choose for your bathroom, you can usually find a quality magazine with great pictures. For instance if you're into hunting and fishing, "Gray's Sporting Journal" has fantastic paintings adorning their pages. They use a high quality paper, perfect for framing.

Don't forget about the smaller pictures in these magazines. You don't have to find full-page layouts. Frames are made in every conceivable size. If you see a picture you want to frame, rest assured you'll be able to find a frame size to fit.

So the next time you're standing in front of a magazine rack think about your boring bathroom. Would any of the pictures in the magazines help to liven it up?
