Cheap and Easy Halloween Kid's Crafts

Parents and children can enjoy creating Halloween decorations and Halloween crafts together. They are fun to make, can be kept for years as tokens of childhood, and best of all you get to display all your ghosts and ghouls for the world to see one spooky day of the year. If you are looking for some fun and unique Halloween craft or decoration ideas, you have come to the right place!

Egg Carton Bat:
There are two things everyone loves right now: recycling and saving money. Kids love creepy creatures and painting. Therefore, this egg carton bat Halloween craft will make everyone happy.
What You'll Need:

  • Egg Carton (one carton makes four bats, so the number of cartons needed made vary)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Black paint
  • String
  • Googlie eyes
Steps:
1. Cut, or help your child cut, the egg carton in to four sections. Each section should include three egg holders, think two wings and the middle part the body.
2. Have your child cut each wing, or outside egg holders, into a downward C shape, leaving the middle intact.
3. Paint the entire surface of the bat, outside and inside, black.
4. Glue the googlie eyes onto the front of the middle section of the bat. If you do not have googlie eyes, draw or paint on eyes, or glue on paper eyes.
5. Thread a piece of string through the top of each wing and tie the two pieces of string together.

Now you have yourself a cute, creepy flying bat Halloween craft that is simple and inexpensive.

Ghostlipop:
Both ghosts and candy are a mainstay of modern Halloween. This is why this ghost pop is the perfect Halloween craft.

What You'll Need:

  • Lollipops, any kind
  • Tissue paper squares
  • Black and/or orange ribbon
  • Black marker
Steps:
1. Take one lollipop.
2. Place a piece of tissue over it so that the candy is no longer visible.
3. Tie the ribbon around the tissue right under the base of the candy.
4. Draw a spooky face on the front of your new little ghost.

Pumpkin Pocket:
As stated before, candy is a Halloween staple. However, what do you do with all that candy the day after Halloween? This cute pumpkin wall hanger craft will to solve some of your storage needs!What You'll Need:

  • Two paper plates
  • Stapler
  • Orange paint
  • Black construction paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • String
Steps:
1. Cut one of the paper plates in half.
2. Lay the half plate on top of the whole one, facing each other, so they make a pouch.
3. Staple them together at the edges.
4. Paint with the orange paint.
5. Draw three triangles and a crescent on the black construction paper for the eyes and mouth of your pumpkin.
6. Glue the eyes and nose onto the top half of the plate and the crescent smile onto the bottom half where your pouch is.
7. Thread the plate at the top above the eyes.

With this fun and easy Halloween craft, you now have yourself a hangable pumpkin storage pouch and a new place to hide some leftover Halloween candy.

Fun Fact:
The jack-o-lantern was originally a tradition used by the Celtics involving a hollowed out turnip. When the Irish immigrated to America during the potato famine of the 1840's they found that turnips where not as accessible. They started using pumpkins as a replacement and that's how we have our modern jack-o-lanterns.
