Cheap and Easy High School Valentine's Day Party Food

Mike C.
Who said parties stopped once you got to High School? Many high school classrooms still enjoy a little time to relax and eat! Below are some easy and quick party foods for all you teachers, parents, and/or students looking for ideas as you celebrate Valentine's Day at school.

Dessert - Valentine's Day Cupcakes. Cupcakes are a classic party dessert food that is relatively cheap and quick. They also yield a lot so they can easily feed 24 if they each have one. All you need is some milk, a few eggs, cupcake liners, icing, and cake mix. You or your parents probably already have the utensils: mixing bowl, mixer, cupcake pans. Since it's Valentine's Day, you don't have to make boring plain cupcakes. Consider red velvet cake mix so your cupcakes will be red. Then, when the cupcakes cool off, spread a white or cream colored frosting on top of each one. Add red sprinkles or candy hearts to each top.

Drinks - Fruit Punch. This is simple. Go to a bulk store like Sam's Club and pick up red fruit juice in cans or individual containers, like a 24-case of Hawaiian Punch for example. Make sure you buy enough so that each person has one and have a few leftover in case of accidents or unexpected guests. By doing this, you don't have to worry with cups. Regular drinks like Coca Cola are not allowed in some schools so this is a perfect substitution.

Side - Chips. As stated above, go buy bulk individual bags of chips. You can buy variety packs of Sun Chips, Lays, Ruffles, pretzels, etc. No one worries about everyone's hands being in the same bag or how much each person is able to get if you had one big bag of chips.

Main Course - Sandwich Wraps. Everyone eats sandwiches! Sandwich wraps are pretty cheap and easy to make too, especially if you're on a time crunch. Count how many students, teachers, and/or parents will be at the Valentine's Party. Then from that figure out how many flour tortillas you'll need. The big tortillas can be made and then cut into two. Gather enough sandwich meats such as ham and turkey, pepperoni, bacon, cheese slices, mustard, mayo, and lettuce is optional. Place a tortilla on the table, spread mustard and mayo, add some meat and cheese slices. Roll the tortilla up, and cut it into halves if you want. If the wraps won't stay rolled, stick a toothpick in each. Put the wraps into a sealed or covered container that will fit in a school refrigerator until they're needed.
