One easy and fun idea is to make a t-shirt. You can find supplies at many places including Michaels craft store or Wal-Mart. You can use any kind of decorating utensils such as fabric paint, iron-on letters, numbers, or pictures, or you can buy a package of fabric transfer sheets. I have personally used the Wilton Easy Image t-shirt transfers and they aren't called easy for nothing. You simply create your design on the computer, and by following the package instructions print your design onto the transfer paper, and iron onto the shirt. It's so easy, and looks professional for half the price.
Another idea is to make a holiday candy or goodie basket. You can make any kinds of treats you want including fudge, homemade candy, cookies, or anything else you can think of. The wonderful thing about creating your own baskets is that you can make any kind of treats or goodies you want, you can personalize them from what you enjoy to cook, or you can add themes to different baskets based on the recipient. It's up to you what you do with them and that's what makes these so personalized, creative, and fun!
Do you have a family member or friend who is expecting a baby? Perhaps they just had a baby, or will very soon, but you wanted to make something for the baby as a gift, but you have no idea what a baby! A simple and easy idea is to cross-stitch a baby bib. You can find them at places like Michaels craft store or Wal-Mart, and you can always get a patterned cross-stitch which has small blue marks and tells you which colors go where. When you finish the pattern, you simply wash the fabric and the blue pattern disappears, leaving your gift looking clean and 100% homemade.
Have you ever wanted to make something completely from scratch? A unique and completely homemade gift idea is to either knit or crochet a hat, scarf, afghan, purse, cell phone holder, sweater, pillow case, or anything else you can think of that you would want to create as a wonderful heart-felt Christmas gift. Not only can you can personalize it, including the size, color, texture, and item, you don't have to worry about finding something that fits or finding that certain scarf in their favorite color. These gifts are always accepted with the knowledge that you put time and hard work towards creating something wonderful instead of buying a gift card or grabbing a last minute item from the shelf.
These are only a few of the many different kinds of great homemade gifts you can make that come straight from the heart!
