Though it is very rare for someone to come out ahead by gambling in Las Vegas, you can follow these tips to save money on entertainment, something that can be very costly in Las Vegas. The following is a list of cheap or even free entertainment that is must-see for anyone spending a few days in the city that never sleeps.

Every night at the Bellagio Hotel, there is a display of fountains shooting water into the air. The show can be seen starting at 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm every half hour and from 8:00pm to 12:00 am every 15 minutes.

The Mirage has a volcano in front of the hotel that erupts every night starting at 8:00 pm to 12:00am every hour on the hour, resulting in a fiery show of flames and music. Inside the Mirage you can see white tigers that are on display, as well as a video of Ziegfried and Roy talking about them. There is also a dolphin tank that can be seen for $3/hour.

The shops at Caeser's Palace have statues that come to life every hour, this is mainly an advertisement for a ride called "The Race for Atlantis". The mechanized show is entertainment enough, but for $9 the ride can be considered a good deal as well.

The popular hotel Treasure Island has a great battle between a pirate ship and a ship of the British Navy. The show starts 7:00, 8:30, 10:00 and 11:30 every evening. The show includes exploding cannons, fireballs, witty pirate humor, and dancing female pirates. Be sure to arrive at least 20 minutes before the show begins to get a spot between both ships. If you can only see one ship, you will miss half of the show.

The Fremont Street Experience of Las Vegas is about 1.5 miles from the northernmost point of The Strip. It is a 4 block long screen that is above the street, and has a music and light show every hour from 8 to midnight. The show features great songs, and there are always live bands on the street to provide entertainment between the hourly shows.

New York-New York has one-third scale replicas of the most famous buildings in New York, including the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building.

For the greatest view in Las Vegas, go to the top of the Stratosphere tower. If you are not staying at the Stratosphere hotel, it will cost $10 per person, but at 109 stories above the strip, the view can't get any better. Go at night to see the lights. There are also three different thrill rides on top of the tower that can be experienced for $9 each.
