Cheap or Free Last Minute Valentines for Wife or Girlfriend

Budget Valentines Can Still Show You Love Her

Marie Anne St. Jean
Short of cash on Valentine's Day? You can still show your wife or girlfriend how special she is on Valentine's Day without breaking the bank, even if you waited until the last minute.

If money isn't an issue on Valentine's Day, anyone can pop into the local jewelry store at the last minute and pick out some bling with a hefty price tag that their wife or girlfriend will fawn over. By being a little creative, you can still treat her to a Valentine's Day that won't put you in debt, yet create memories that she'll treasure.

Last Minute Cheap or Free Valentine Idea: Re-Create Her Favorite Dinner

Does your wife or girlfriend have a favorite meal at a local restaurant? If the prices on the menu are above your budget, replicate her favorite meal at home and provide a romantic atmosphere with a small fresh flower arrangement and a few candles. Many recipes for dishes similar to restaurant favorites can be found on the internet.

She'll love that you took the trouble to prepare the meal yourself, but if you can't cook, enlist the help of Mom or sister to help pull it off. After dinner, make sure to follow through and clean up the kitchen before snuggling in front of the TV with her favorite chick-flick.

Last Minute Cheap or Free Valentine Idea: Pamper Your Wife or Girlfriend

Fancy spas can be costly, so make your own version of a day spa right at home. The few supplies needed can be picked up even at the last minute. Buy bubble bath or bath salts in her favorite scent and draw a warm bath. Votive candles are inexpensive and can be found at any discount or dollar store; dim the lights and place the lighted candles around the tub.

Lay a single red rose among the candles and strew extra rose petals over the bath water (Ask your florist for extra rose petals; they should be very cheap or even free). Complete the experience by warming a towel and her favorite robe with a quick spin in the dryer, and lay extra rose petals on clean, crisp bed sheets. Throw in a foot rub or back rub and I guarantee she'll melt.

Last Minute Cheap or Free Valentine Idea: Build Dreams Together

Is marriage or a new home in your future? Check online listings or the newspaper for open houses in your area and treat her to a day of house shopping. Start the day at her favorite coffee shop to plan your route, then for the cheap price of her favorite latte, you can watch her eyes light up as she redecorates each room in her mind.

Pampering your special girl or wife on Valentine's Day doesn't have to be expensive. Think outside the (jewelry) box and give her a day she'll remember by giving of your time and attention.
