Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas

Times are tough and most people don't have $50 to shell out on a costume and accessories to use just one night. But that shouldn't keep you from celebrating one of the best holidays of the year. in honor of being cheap, here are some easy costume ideas that you can create from items in your home:

Mummy: If you want to wrap up your Halloween easily and practically for free, you can just get a friend to roll some toilet paper around you and voila. All you need is toilet paper and some tape. If you want to be really risqué, you can wear it with nothing under...or you can make the bandages scarce.

Dexter and his victim: This is an extremely easy idea that will be instantly recognizable by anyone who watches the show. You can just wrap the "victim" in plastic wrap and draw some blood from the face, preferably fake. Dexter just needs gloves, a weapon and some blood spatter to be recognizable. It wouldn't hurt to be hanging out with the victim all night.

Patrick Bateman: In keeping with the murderer theme, American Psycho is an easy costume, especially if you already own a suit. All you need is a clear plastic raincoat and some fake blood and you're all set. To add some authenticity, you can make some business cards to hand out at the party.

Little Miss Sunshine: This is just a simple workout outfit with a red headband and the glasses, which are the defining feature of the outfit.

Ninja: Get black leggings and a black top. You can make the black mask out of fabric, which can be found for cheap at Walmart or an arts and crafts store.

Leeloo from The Fifth Element: This costume is everything a great costume should be: cheap, slutty, and easy to put together. All you need is an orange wig and some white tape.

Angel and Devil: These are some of the easiest costumes because all you need to do is get the color scheme. A devil just needs mostly red and some cheap horns that you can pick up anywhere. The angel needs a mostly white getup. A sheet or white dress will do the trick and you can make a halo out of tin foil. The best part of this costume is that you can harass people as a team.

Zombie: All you really need is an outfit you wanna ruin. Cover it in fake blood. Create wounds out of glue, cotton paint and more fake blood and you're all set.

There are tons of more ideas that are practically free. Remember: if you can't impress with your cash, impress with your creativity.
