Dress Up Your Princess for Less

Eric Summers
Halloween is the time of the year where young girl's imaginations go wild. They realize that they get to dress up for an entire day of fun. Dressing up is an essential part of the holiday experience, but sometimes it is difficult to come up with ideas. It is even more difficult to come up with an idea that is cheap, fairly easy, but still enjoyed by the child. The following are a few ideas that cover just that, and that will hopefully spark your imagination and help you come up with a cheap Halloween costume for your little girl.

Princess Halloween Costume for Girls

First and foremost there is the ever popular princess outfit. Nearly every girl wishes to be a princess at some point, and luckily for you the outfits don't have to be royally expensive to look regal. A simple pink dress, preferably with sparkles, a cone shaped hat, cute shoes, and some light makeup if your little princess desires can pull together an adorable Halloween costume. There are also many variations on princess, such as fairy princess or Gothic princess, find out which one would suit the princess best.

Witch Costumefor Girls

The arch nemesis of the princess, the witch, is also a very popular girl's Halloween costume. And it can be created just as cheap and easy as a princess costume. A black robe, a pointy hat, a broom and some green makeup and that's that! There are also different variations on witches that can be done. Several movies, such as the Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia portray witches as wearing long white flowing dresses with elaborate hair. A witch doesn't have to be the usual green skinned one!

Doll Costumefor Girls

Perhaps the young girl wants to be something a little more mundane, something a little softer. A cheap doll outfit can be put together very easily. Any doll like clothes will work; if it is a torn up doll then torn up clothes, if it is a porcelain doll then a cute little dress. For the joints simply use black eyeliner to draw lines around the knees, elbows, the two lines from the mouth to the chin, and maybe even finger joints.

Harry Potter Costumefor Girls

For Halloween the young girl may want to be something that everyone will recognize immediately, such as a character from a popular movie or series. One easy option for this is a character from Harry Potter. A black robe, skirt, sweater, wand, and scarf in the appropriate color. The clothes items should be very easy to find in a thrift store, and the wand can be a shortened stick or item from around the house.

Conclusion

Girls are not all the same, maybe the one you are making a costume for would rather be a mechanic in a jumpsuit, or a rock star with crazy hair, or someone from the military in her fatigues. Talk to the girl who you are creating this for and see if she already has some ideas in mind, she might already know exactly what she wants!
