Cheap Halloween Group Costumes

Halloween can be the perfect time for hanging with friends, going to parties or just hunkering in with a few of your best cohorts to watch a horror flick marathon. Somehow amongst all this planning and socializing, the costume aspect of the holiday is sometimes forgotten, leaving you and your friends scrambling to find a good costume. But with money short, coming up with something that isn't too expensive can be an issue. If you're searching for cheap group Halloween costumes, here are a few that will barely touch your budget.

Rock Band (Punk or 80s) - While at first thought, you might not think you have the items necessary to complete this group Halloween costume, you probably do. Some hair gel for making big hair, some terribly gaudy makeup, a torn t-shirt, and tight jeans (maybe leather pants) should do the trick. If someone has a guitar it could make a great prop, but buying one just to complete a cheap Halloween costume is out of the question.

Toga Party - Since the days of Animal House, we've seen the toga party remain a constant presence at college campuses. The best thing about this costume is that if you and your friends own a bed, you should have your cheap Halloween costume readily available. If you're careful during your Halloween adventures, you might even be able to give it a wash and return it to the bed when you're done, with the only cost to your Halloween evening being the soap and water to do the laundry.

Vintage flashback - For some reason, many of us have vintage or retro clothing in our closets. While we may or may not claim ownership to the items, Halloween is finally a time when you can put them to good use. Have your group round up whatever fashion paraphernalia they have that fits a certain era or decade and decorate your group. If you don't have enough material from any one time for the entire group, have them select their favorite times period and just say you're paying homage to vintage flashbacks. From the roaring 20s to the 90s, your costumes can be the hit of Halloween!

Sports fans - Here's another cheap Halloween group costume idea that only requires you to grab your favorite sports jersey out of the closet. Add a hat or similar team or sport related items to heighten your die-hard sports fan impression.

Old duffer - Many of us have clothing passed down from our parents or grandparents. Sometimes we just have clothing that looks like what an older person might wear. From plaid pants to sweaters that might fit the bill perfectly, you can add realism to your group's costumes with walking canes, walkers, crutches, and wheelchairs if you have such items lying around the house. If not, a tottering walk and an aged tinge to your voice might be enough to do the trick. A little vapor rub or similarly stinky ointment can add to the elderly impression.
