Cheap Home Made Christmas Cards

Yesterday while I was watching BBC News, my six year old daughter came to me with excitement and said Dad I want to show you some thing. I closed my TV and gave my total attention to her. She said that every year we spend money on purchasing Christmas and New Year cards. This year we will prepare greeting cards our selves. I implored her how? She explained me as follows:

Coloured Design
My daughter slowly in her childish way explained me:- Last year we received great number of greeting cards, use them. First remove the middle page where sender write message. Take a string, dip it in ink bottle or coloured paint. Then use this string in the middle message paper and close it. Slowly pull this string in a zig zag fashion. On opening you get designed pattern on both the sides. Write your message and sign it. You get beautiful designed hand made greeting card.

Lady Finger
Cut the top end of a lady finger, dip it in different colours. Use your imagination and put the cut portion of lady finger on the card. You get different patterns on the card. Then add a small message on the middle. Your Christmas card is ready.

Coloured Rice
Take some dry rice put it in different colours and dry it. My daughter draws beautiful pictures. So she said she will draw different cartoon picture on different cards. She further exclaimed that add the different coloured rice in the pictures. Or paste them on the border of pictures. You get imaginative greeting card. Just add your message on it.

Straw Painting
Similar to above you can also use coloured straw on the pictures and the borders, Sprinkle shining facial make up, to give added touch to the cards.

Coloured scrap paper
Coloured paper after use you get lot of scrap. This scrap coloured papers can be used to give value addition to the Christmas cards

Defective CD's
She said dad you can use defective CD and paint them, after they get dried , add a message and your Christmas card is ready.

Children have a unique way of imagination, so she gave me tips to make Christmas cards for this year. The above method is cheap and it will be appreciated by all I am sure. This way you can use some of the unused scrap , cardboard, shoe boxes etc and create a beautiful gifts from it. Encourage children and use their imagination and talent for useful purpose. Christmas is a family & friends get-together & joyous celebrations. Now is the peak time for preparations for the forthcoming Christmas.
