Georgia Lund

An extended appointment (which will cost a small fortune) need not be booked with a prestigious stylist to repair your dull, lifeless locks. Cheap and quick hair pick-me-ups are as close as your nearest drugstore. Head for the drugstore and repair your own hair problem cheaply and quickly with these hair product ideas.

Repair Dry, Damaged Hair

Look for a hair product that will deeply hydrate your dry hair. A hair mask or other type of applied, leave on treatment that will remain on hair for at least five minutes will penetrate deep into the hair shaft to moisturize and repair.

Bring Back the Shine

Hair gets dull over time due to a build up of hair care products. Even the shampoo you use leaves behind dulling residue. Look for a clarifying shampoo and use it twice a month to bring back the shine to your hair.

Add More Shine

If you want more than just naturally shiny hair, boost the shine with a hair gloss or glaze product. Hair gloss or glaze coats the hair shaft to give hair an extra shiny look. Shine products are easy to apply at home and usually Last about six weeks.

Overnight Vitamin E Treatment

To improve your hair's look and feel overnight, apply a vitamin E treatment. Look for a vitamin E oil in the hair care section of the drugstore and choose one for overnight use, Generously apply the vitamin E oil to hair at night (massaging into scalp) cover hair with small towel or shower cap to keep heat in and prevent the oil from getting on bedding, then shampoo as usual the following morning.

Cold Hair Rinse

Always shampoo and condition hair using cool water, and make the final rinse cold. A cold water rinse smoothes the hair cuticles, which amplifies hair's shine and color.

Add Volume to Hair

Can't get the big hair style look you want? Could be the shampoo you're using holding your locks down. Swap your moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for a volumizing formula. Top that off by using a volumizing mousse at hair roots when styling. And to complete the big hair look, flip head over and blow dry hair upside down. Finish the blow drying and set the look with a blast of cool air from the blow dryer.
