Renewable Sources are definitely one answer that I would like to put forward. Renewable energy is energy generated from not depleting natural resources, such as wind, sunlight, tides, rain and even geothermal heat. They are alternatives to the conventional form of energy that we have in our daily lives which could also be used to power our homes, industries and even vehicles. Following are some sources for alternatives to the use of the harmful and fast depleting Thermal Energy.
BIOMASS
Biomass can be understood as the use of biological materials that add to the production of fuel. It is increasingly becoming the largest renewable source of energy at a global level. It contributes to about thirteen percent of the energy produced in the world. Brazil is quite appreciated for its practice of making use of common fuel available not only for transport but also heating, lighting and cooking. Biomass sources include wood, corn, sugarcane, switch grass and even algae.
Biomass seems to be very promising as to help reduce carbon emissions, energy prices and the effect of global warming on the environment.
HYDROPOWER
Hydro electric power seems to be the second most important source for renewable energy, providing about three percent energy to the world. This type of energy has itr roots in huge dams where scientists make use of the gravitational force of falling water to rotate turbines and power generators.
China is by now the largest investor on hydro power as it has already started it's project for the largest power station on Yangtze river. However there exists much criticism due to the loss of marine life and archeological sites, but that is a separate issue.
SOLAR POWER
One of the most valuable and reliable source of energy for the world, as it makes use of solar panels which capture the rays of the ever shining sun. This source is available in abundance and is perhaps the least expensive in energy conversion. Many different countries have been promoting this form of energy by reducing taxes and other incentives.
WIND POWER
Wind power is the fastest growing source of energy in Europe, and now the United States. Most tycoons and Storms harm the coastal areas; why not use them for profitable Wind Mills. This will also reduce our dependence on petroleum products.
GEOTHERMAL POWER
Norway and Iceland are the heaviest beneficiaries of Geo Thermal Power. Not all locations are feasible for this type of power generation, yet it still is considered a vast source of energy.
