Cheap Shoe Review: Men's Dexter Black Archer Dress Shoes

Payless Offers a Way to Look Good at the Office for Less

L. Spain
Formal business attire may no longer be required in most offices. But, for millions of men, that has only made dressing for work more complicated. There are many different levels of casual in the workplace. One pair of shoes is appropriate at all levels: the basic black Dexter Archer Cap-toe Oxford Dress Shoes from Payless Shoes. They look good when combined with an interview suit, but they are perfectly suitable for casual days.

When I first joined the work force, Dexter shoes were all leather and had leather soles. The leather was often stiff and a bit unforgiving. However, the shoe was well-made, durable, and repairable. Today, my old "Wingtips of Power" are all gone. Instead, my new Dexter shoes have rubber soles with aggressive tread patterns for traction and synthetic uppers. My kinder and gentler Dexter Archer shoes have a well-padded area that cradles the foot in soft leather. While it is certainly an economy measure, these shoes are comfortable from the moment you slip them on in the store. However, since the sole is rubber rather than leather, it may be impossible for a traditional cobbler to repair when the heel is worn down.

If you are comparison shopping, Dexter Archers look very similar to Dockers brand Men's Gordon dress shoes. However, the Dockers Gordons have a leather upper and rubber sole. The leather foot bed of the Gordons is perforated for airflow and looks a little more substantial. The eyelets of the Dockers Gordons are ringed, while the Dexter Archers are merely holes in the leather. Still, since Dexter is sold at Payless, it offers a considerable savings to price conscious consumers. The list price of Dexter Archer shoes is only $39.95 and payless often has excellent sale prices.

The main advantage of Dexter Archers is that they do look like a more expensive dress shoe. This makes them perfect for work or an interview. You can buy these shoes, try them on, and pack them away in your closet until you get an interview. Alternatively, you can wear Dexter Archers everyday and save more expensive shoes for important meetings and interviews. Either way, Dexter and Payless can help you economize and stretch your shoe budget with these shoes. These are great shoes for someone who is laid off and stretching every dollar for interview attire.

Overall, I would certainly recommend Dexter Archers as inexpensive dress shoes that are affordable, comfortable to wear, and perfectly appropriate for the office. Dexter Archer shoes are a good buy in these times of tight family budgets.
