Cheap Shoe Review: Men's Dexter Nantucket Boat Shoes

In the business casual world, men have the freedom to wear comfortable shoes. Of course, there is a fine line between appropriate and overly casual. I think Men's Dexter Nantucket Boat shoes are comfortable, well constructed, affordable, and perfectly appropriate for most business casual companies. Dexter Nantucket's are available from Payless Shoes in sizes 6.5 through 13 and in one color Brown. The color pallet used in the shoes is actually one of complementary browns and tans, the shoes match the typical khakis or chinos worn by most office workers.

In a modern approach to the boat shoe, Dexter Nantuckets combine man-made materials and leather into a breathable upper. The shoe has breathable synthetic mesh in sidewall panels and on the tongue of the shoe. Yet, the top, the toes, smaller side panels and the heel are covered with suede that feels rich for a discount shoe store chain. Finally, a band of dark brown leather rings the top of the shoe and provides extra strength in upper side panels that reinforce the shoelace eyelets. The heel of the shoe encompasses a soft, generously-sized, pad that makes walking more comfortable. The rest of the footpad is also soft and cushy. I found that these shoes were perfectly comfortable for work, walking the dog, and other daily tasks. At times, my feet did get a little warm beneath the leather and suede.

The sole of the shoe is thick two-toned rubber and provides a wide and stable platform for walking. The sole also has some patterns to help the wearer maintain a good grip. However, as a former boat owner, I would be concerned about using these shoes for boating. First, suede and water don't mix. Second, boat decks don't mix with any sole color other than white. Third, these shoes might not be grippy enough for boating use. I'm just not sure that these shoes wouldn't leave marks on a boat's deck.

While sailors don't wear suede, office workers do. For casual wear, the Dexter Nantucket boat shoes are outstanding. They are supportive, but also easy to slip on an off. They are attractive, but casual. However, since these shoes have a fabric footpad, I would suggest wearing them with socks. I found my Nantuckets for only $29.99 at my local Payless. However, I would consider them a bargain for only $34.99 on sale online. Even at the regular price of $42.99, these Dexter shoes would be worth the price.

Overall, I recommend Dexter Nantucket boat shoes as excellent men's shoes for office and casual wear.
