It's been your dream for years to be your own boss. You have finally opened your own business and found everything to be expensive. Once you set up shop and are open for business, what do you do to get customers to visit your establishment? How do you create a buzz that will hopefully leave you in the black instead of red at the end of the month? Here are a few quick and easy steps that will allow you to get your name out there with little cost.

Use your empty space. A lot of buildings have empty space on an outer wall. Choose the best wall of your building and put up a banner advertising specials. If a lot of traffic goes past your building then make sure the letter are large enough to be read from far away. This creates exposure to your products. Everybody driving past will see what your specials are and will be more likely to try it out. Even if they don't have a reason to use your product, a giant banner in a bright color will demand their attention and most likely stick in their head. You never know when those potential customers will meet other potential customers and tell them about your product.

College papers are not just for campus businesses. If a college campus is near you then call about advertising. College papers are usually free on campus and every student is likely to pick one up to read in their free time. By advertising in a college paper you are likely to be seen by a possible customer. Campus employees, students, professors and parents are all possible readers. Best of all, college papers are cheaper to advertise in than a regular large circulation newspaper.

Grocery stores are not just for groceries. Most grocery stores have an area just outside the main entrance where you pick up a shopping cart. In this area there is often a board used to put up announcements. Use this area to your advantage. Everybody in your town will eventually go to the grocery store. Put up an attention getting sign with your new business advertised on it. It is a great and free way to get your name out there. Be sure to frequent the store about once a week to make sure your sign is still in view.

As you can see, advertising your new business does not have to leave you bankrupt. With a little creativity and persistence, you will be successful in no time.
