In the current economic climate, the prospect of showing your significant other your love and appreciation for them on Valentine's Day can be a source of stress. You're still recovering financially from the holiday season and now your facing your Valentine's Day dilemma.

With a bit of forethought and creativity, you can keep your Valentine's day plans cheap and easy without a lot of intimidating thought out planning. I've thought of a few cheap Valentine's day ideas that you may find easy to fit into your own Valentine's day celebration for you and your very significant other.

Dinner and a Movie at Home

Figure out a meal that both of you find appealing. A dish that you both look forward to throughout the year and plan on making that for your evening at home together. Then do a bit of research into the movie entertainment for the night as well, and just as with dinner, make the movie something you both will be entertained by. This is the night both of you should enjoy the entertainment whatever that may be.

Wine Tasting at Home

If you and your special person are wine lovers, you may want to consider purchasing a few wines that you haven't yet had the chance to try and use Valentine's day as an opportunity to give those a go. Plan ahead and decide on the wine that you want to try and make sure to have it around when Valentine's day arrives. Make some good food to accompany the particular wines that you have chosen, then all that's left to do is enjoy!

Couple's Card Night

Do you have a few other friends that are couples and have the same interest in cards that you and your significant other do? Consider hosting a couple's card Valentine's Day party that you can invite everyone to for an evening of cards, snacks and fellowship. Serve some finger foods that everyone will enjoy and isn't hard on the pocketbook, then let yourself take pleasure in good food and friends alike. Make some special Valentine desserts to celebrate the holiday with.

Couple's Game Night

Invite your close couple friends over for a night of games and snacks that'll keep the party alive for hours. Games like Charades, and Scrabble, Sentence Scrabble, Monopoly and some unique ethnic tasty treats to eat will keep the party alive for hours. If you can find some flavorful recipes from other cultures, the games and food will have the party jumping.! Involve some of your favorite wine or cocktails and you're good to go!

With these suggestions, keeping cost down for yet another holiday can be accomplished without too much time consuming brain bending. Possibly you may have some cheap Valentine's day idea that I haven't thought of.
